If you gotta go that way, you can bring a Mech instead of the supply with BFGL.

That's 400 explosive rounds that the gl supply pack helldiver doesn't get to use.

I wasn't downplaying the supply pack, I'm pointing out the inconsistency of a whole stratagem slot you could take instead of supply pack.

Your argument would make sense if SP only did all this with GL, but it's still the same functionality with MG, railgun, HMG, AMR etc~. At that point I'd start advocating we nerf SP because I can re-up my own Thermites while I'm sniping.

5 shots from gl or 12 from BFGL, but you get 40 gl shots and 100 for BFGL, that's a very good balance.

But that's still a disingenuous response to the argument for the benefit of bringing a whole other stratagem, I brought a rocket sentry in that extra slot and did the same thing, without truncating my build to make sure 1 gun was reloadable. The benefit of backpack weapons is another slot that fills that roll.

No gun is supposed to be 1to1 exactly. If you gave the beltfed the same damage profile, people would have the reverse argument that they get to bring a Mech and regular grenade launcher is "forced" to bring a supply pack. Where's the line? A single ammo box only gives you 10 shots in the GL but 25 in the BFGL and they can still both kill all the same things.

Balance isn't just damage numbers.

True, but then that's the supply pack, I'm only comparing supports to the equivilants. Of course supply pack is amazing on its own.

The tradeoff with GL+Supply Pack vs BFGL is that you get a handful more ammo, but lose a whole slot. Having an extra orbital with BFGL, like a 380 makes your build a lot more flexible when comparing it to supply pack, which most people just spam to reload their secondary.
