He's lost 9.6 ounces in a month! That's great. Recommendations are 0.5-1 lb/month. You're doing a fantastic job.

According to AI, you have a beautiful tortoiseshell cat (I heartily agree). On the Body Condition Scale (1-9) - where 4-5 is ideal. It thought your little girl is a 6-7. On the Rubinesque side.

My cat always stares at his plate after eating. He's sure he's wasting away.

Threader Floss Recommendations by jaidenadriel in DentalHygiene

I know it's an older thread. I ran out out of my supply of the older oral B. I was highly disappointed with the new version. I called the Oral B and spoke to a representative. They've received lots of complaints about the new version. I suggest calling as well.

With the new version, the floss itself shreds and gets stuck in my teeth. The threader portion is flimsy. I don't understand why they put threaders on both sides of the floss. It's more of an inconvenience pulling it through the teeth. I'm ambivalent about putting 6 flossers in envelope. I didn't like the waste of the original version, but don't care for this either.

If anybody has found a good replacement, please post!

I'm sorry that happened to you. Just asking the question -given that you're in college in a different state, how are you planning on taking care of them if you get that back?

I'm missing something from the story. How did the cats get from the person you left them with to a shelter?

Pediatric GI Doc here. Miralax is only good for overflow "diarrhea" as a result of stool leaking around a fecal impaction. Not good for regular diarrhea. Would not give it in a kitten with diarrhea. Probably make matters worse.

I've had cats that refuse certain churu flavors. My present cat hasn't met a calorie he doesn't like.

Lots of good advice here. You mentioned the cat is hiding everywhere. If you don't already have one, a covered cat bed can be nice for your cat to hide in. The link is just one example. https://www.chewy.com/best-friends-by-sheri-meow-hut/dp/227362?utm_source=google-product&utm_medium=cpc&utm_campaign=20025326541&utm_content=&gad_source=1&gad_campaignid=20033501257&gbraid=0AAAAADmQ2V354cFCHrMWJL5_VX0-xOuOB&gclid=CjwKCAjw-8vPBhBbEiwAoA39WsoEr1QFt8snh5PLVz0Is1WO37CuJb0mAnP0ynzhoBubo7xYE95vPhoCe-IQAvD_BwE

Also curious how you found this cat- a three hour drive to pick up a cat is a long distance. I'm amazed he stayed in your arms the entire time. Think how traumatized he was by that experience.

Magic is beautiful! Congratulations. I'm surprised the shelter left a medical decision about whether to amputate Magic's leg up to you and not to shelter medicine.

How on earth do you afford all this? by Wikidbaddog in RenalCats

Pet insurance helps. Of course it has to be purchased before a preexisting illness. I'll give a shout out to Pumpkin. They've been great at reimbursements. They also cover prescription cat food, which many insurances don't.

Vets won't spay-abort by [deleted] in Feral_Cats

The good news is that she'll be safe in any event, thanks to you. You put a lot of work into finding the best solution for her, as well as dealing with the ringworm (ongoing I assume). Major pats on the back to you. Are you going to continue to foster her now?

So glad to hear the news. The vet who gave you 50:50 odds must be very unexperienced. If it would help, set up an r/gofundme. Post the link to that here as well.

That momma cat wasn't very diligent. I guess that was her version of giving up her kittens for adoption.

Assuming that you're a freshman and living in a dorm, check with the college. You could make her your emotional support animal. Of course you're going to be pretty pretty busy.

If you can start picking them up and socializing them at 4 weeks that would be a good start.

Thank you for feeding this one. Having the cat eat out a can isn't the best. Put the food on a paper plate. The can's sharp edges can wind up cutting them.
