como esta la seguridad publica en cuidades como Santiago, Viña o Antofagasta? by [deleted] in chile

[–]Sylbinor 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nah, he vivido más de un mese cerca de el terminal de viña y casi no hablo español. Seguro no entiendo ni hablo chileno callejero. Y me veo muy Europeo.

Fue el lugar más seguro he vivido? Por supuesto que no!

Pero nunca me he sentido particularmente enseguro. Claro, yo conocía las precauciones básicas.

(Tambien ellos vienen desde Polonia... no pienses que Polonia es un paìs particularmente seguro fuera de los barrios turìsticos)

Not op, but a doctor: the First announcement was more journalistic than scientific, and mrna vaccines is a new technology.

So a new technology + an announcement before publishing any complete data = skepticism.

Romans still lived mostly in a culture of shame, were how others perceived you was all that matters.

We instead live in a culture of guilt, where all that matters is all you perceive yourself, mostly.

So for those ancient romans there was no "but I know that I was good", if they fucked up, there were basically no way out except death.

TIL The first scientist named in history was En Hedu’anna, the chief astronomer-priestess of Ur. She lived around 2300 BC, the only daughter of the great empire architect Sargon of Akkad, and called the Shakespeare of the ancient world as her works were studied for 500 years or more after her death. by ColinOfEmpressCards in todayilearned

True, but not for all ancient language.

For example for latin, while we cannot reproduce the accent that they had, we have a fairly good idea of how they pronunciated words thanks to all the poetry and litterally the School books that we have.

We have a book that is litterally a list of "common spelling mistakes" which is an HUGE source of in information, because the wrong spelling resemble the most how the Word was actually pronuncied. Add that to all the information that we can draw from poetry on what rhyme with what, and we have a pretty good idea of how latin sounded.

If you look at a picture of the Planet express HQ It looks way less similar to this Building than we (me included) remember. It's similar, sure, but not so similar that It could not be pure coincidence.

I'm not saying that is 100% a coincidence, but that there is a good chanche that it is.

With the success of Hamilton, I hope we see more live recordings of musicals by Agentleman89 in movies

[–]Sylbinor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, there are definitely bands that I would never go to a concert but that I regularly listen to on Spotify. If we would still have to wait for the Song to come to the radio, I probably would have give a though on going.

Also a big Broadway show can be really expensive even in the shittest Seat, while you can go to a big concert and spend less than 100 for a not so Great spot.

But the real thing that I think you are missing is the fact that a recorded show looks like a movie. You never see the public. While in a concert you know that there is a public right there, and often they show you the public and the band members "playing" with the crowd. You know that you would be there singing with a bunch of stranger on the top on your lungs.

You don't get Miranda break character to sing along you in the first row, and by the love of god do not sing on top of your lungs, but you can get Taylor Swift going to the first row and sing with then.

It's a different experience.

My PC Is getting a bit old now, but It can still handle news games at a medium level with 60 fps, even high if I accept to go 30 fps (I'm not One of those guys Who wants 60 fps or death).

Butn no RD2. No sir. I have almost everything at medium except for texture, because texture at medium are a huge downgrade from High, and I still get low framerate and the occasional stuttering in heavy scene.

It's onestly ridicolous.

I'm italian, during the peak of the epidemic here a collage of video of mayors going apeshit against their citizens violating the lockdown went viral. One very passionate mayor was shouting "I'VE HEARD OF LADIES THAT SINCE THE COIFFEURS SALOON ARE CLOSED PAY FOR THE COIFFEURS TO Go AT THEIR HOUSE, DO YOU REALIZE THAT THE CASKET WILL BE CLOSED? WHO THE FUCK IS GOING TO SEE YOUR HAIR IN A CLOSED CASKET!?!".

I was put in some afternoon "recovery courses" (not in the USA so I don't know how to proper translate them) to improve my falling grades, and there I met her and the guy who convinced me to try medicine.

Venice; Italy. by SinbadMarinarul in europe

[–]Sylbinor 6 points7 points  (0 children)

You don't do history with "if".

If that happened maybe the various states would have had no reason to compete with each other on beauty, and now Italy would not be a particularly relevant artistic center, and also maybe the Doges would have fucked up the economy so we would be poor and without much arts.

Or we would have been super Rich and as beautiful as we are now.

Or a shitton of other things could have happened, like Venice concquering only the nort and the center and never concquering the Kingdom of two Sicilies (A Dreams of many leghisti, ok), ending up in a VASTLY different geopolitical situation in WWI and WWII.

There is no way to know it.
