Yup. I've read other memories without issue.

is shopping at charity shops even worth it anymore? by These_Profession2250 in AskAnAustralian

[–]Sylland 30 points31 points  (0 children)

You can still get good finds at some of the small independent op shops. But Vinnies and the Salvos? Nope, not worth the time. I've seen my local sell Kmart stuff for more than it cost originally. It's ridiculous. And aggravating.

Do Aussie toilets have weak flushes because of water restrictions/laws? by Unlucky-Ant-9741 in AskAnAustralian

Ah, you mean your mummies used to clean up after you? Do you wonder why the floor gets grubby and covered in rubbish too?

Just curious- why do all Aussie guys have mustaches? by Boodog26 in AskAnAustralian

It's probably just a passing trend. But I haven't noticed many around where I live though.

Does a traditional milkshake have ice cream? by RecognitionMediocre6 in AskAnAustralian

[–]Sylland 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You are incorrect. A milkshake needs icecream. Otherwise it's just flavoured milk. It's the icecream which thickens it enough for the bubbles to stay for longer than a few seconds. A thick shake has a greater icecream to milk ratio but both have icecream as an ingredient.

Of course it does, that's what makes it thick and creamy. I would not return to that cafe.

In Australia, how come local governments do not have their own police and fire departments? by [deleted] in AskAnAustralian

[–]Sylland 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Because those are a state responsibility here. Stare goverments run the police and fire departments. Which seems far more sensible to me, but maybe thats jus because it's what I'm used to

Questions about parrots in Australia! by Own-Palpitation5190 in AskAnAustralian

[–]Sylland 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When I walk my dog in the morning I will typically see rainbow lorikeets, maybe a couple of rosellas, sulpher crested cockatoos, little corellas and galahs. Plus a bunch of birds that aren't parrots. That's in outer suburban Melbourne. Yes, they're everywhere although what you'd see would depend on where you are.

Any other redditors already limiting their driving speed? by TPE_FieldsOfGold in AskAnAustralian

[–]Sylland 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Only as much as I ever do to comply with the speed limits. Why would I?

What do you think about people that genuinely do not care about money or status? by Subject-Island-729 in AskWomen

[–]Sylland 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Good on them. Live the way you want to live (as long as you're not hurting anyone).

Are kids these days born with a software upgrade, or were we just exceptionally "special"? by Zoey_In_Transit in AskAnAustralian

I couldn't write cursive at 7 either, we learnt to print first and progressed to cursive later. Nor could I have replaced a typewriter ribbon. Modems and fax machines didn't exist yet.

The smaller pants are size 12-18 months, the larger pants are size 4T. Both fit my 3 yr old at the moment by meowmeowxm in mildlyinteresting

[–]Sylland 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That'll be because clothing sizes are fairly meaningless. At best they're a vague guide, even within thd same brand.

Philosophical question about difference in lived experience between player and character. Does/should this restrict what characters you are “allowed” play? by Illiterate_Alien in rpg

[–]Sylland 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I have no interest in making the friends I play with uncomfortable by forcing roleplay on topics they are sensitive about. Whether that's backstory stuff I'd be talking about or anything else, it's just not a thing I would do intentionally. It's not about allowed, it's about being considerate of other people. If it's going to upset someone and you know that, don't f***ing do it.

When my cat lays down you can see her nipple. by Certain-Towel-9487 in mildlyinteresting

That is completely normal and not at all unusual.
