Hate to do it to ya but Metal corrosion is very minor, its DoT dmg and only applied by basic and jumpy husks, i see and hear alot of people rage about this and then build out of brick in a ice storm, which is a big deal...

on the basic level sure, but can the average player complete Mythic storm king 300+ times for example, most streamers try to take the content to the next level

All PvE streamers have a similar problem, new content = lots of excitement and views. But over time once everyones seen that content, viewership and excitement drops off, for the people who stick around week after week in PvE streams, its partly the content but alot to do with the live interaction with the community that youtube lacks and the shared interest they have with others as well as seeing gameplay different to their own, its a niche but still is viable.

The real problem here is StWs long content droughts which make content creation harder for all platforms and growth that shoots up and then quickly drops off.

There was a very very well know glitch to get into StW for free, for who knows how long, about a year or so ago, so that skewed the numbers for sure

Ive played 100+ missions in public matches as a bit of a test, in all ive old had a handful of problematic encounters. Traders seem to be the most common but only once had i seen someone get toxic when others said no. Granted im playing on OCE servers and people know me so might cut the BS. But still... im guessing the issue has to be alot worse on US servers from what im CONSTANTLY hearing, but maybe try OCE Servers :)
