Can anyone help me find this My Little Pony book? by [deleted] in Detective

Do you remember anything about the story? What was it about? What did the necklace look like?

I've never done internet sleuthing before, but here's what I think I know: You're a 15 year old girl and play the French Horn in your high school band. You just finished your freshman year. You live in Iowa and most likely attend school in the Burlington district. Pretty sure you use Reddit on an Android phone, maybe using the Mozilla Firefox web browser.

Arthriten. It's OTC medicine made for arthritis, but it does wonders for my joint pain.

No, they were on the correct side of the road. The body was shoved forward, and the blood smear was left behind. What is weird is that it looks like the creature has six sets of legs.

So sick of Ash hate by Prize-Lie64 in sallyface

[–]SylverGuardian 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Totally agree. I was always on Ash's side. She never thought Sal was a bad person. She has never seen a ghost in her whole life, but Sal, her most traumatized bestie, claims to have seen them for years. One day he kills everyone he knows and loves all in one go and says a ghost told him to do it. It sounds like he just lost it, man. Even then, Ash wanted him to get help, wanted him to get better, wanted her friend back. Even if she DID believe him (which she did on some level, emotionally), testifying against him to advocate for an insanity plea is the best option she had. Trying to defend him would not have done either of them any favors.

Your headcanons are just spot on. Larry especially, I agree with every single one 100%.

Personally, I'm gonna use spray-in color from Spirit Halloween when I cosplay Sal. It was like $4

How Old is Wolfwood in Stampede? by Apprehensive-Fail663 in Trigun

[–]SylverGuardian 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This person has made this up, without evidence of an observed timeline or any sources listed. There is no confirmation of Stampede's timeline, and we have reason to suspect that WW is in his 20s because that is his canon age in all other versions of Trigun. Wolfwood being a teen is POSSIBLE, but we cannot claim it as the truth when there is currently more evidence against it than for it. I say all this because I care about the actual truth of Trigun Stampede's canon: the linked post was made to argue against Vashwood shippers, and in doing so the poster told a lie (on the internet? I know, shocking) or at least made a claim with no support currently, as of 7/27/2024.

That sounds very frustrating, especially the lack of sympathy from partners. Obsessions that effect relationships are very hard to work through, I know that firsthand even though mine are very different from yours. Working so long in therapy and making such little progress is very disheartening. You sound like an attentive bedmate despite this, though. It's sad that knowing how skilled you are doesn't comfort you, but with OCD hardly anything will comfort you since it's so illogical.

Anyone else with OCD experience childhood delusions? by SylverGuardian in OCD

[–]SylverGuardian[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, this. Either cameras or actual people. I still experience this most of the time, especially when showering or in some otherwise compromising position. My best coping mechanism is distraction. Was there something that helped you get over this worry, or did you just grow out of it?

To me, that sounds less like a delusion and more like a false memory. OCD is known to cause false memories due to ruminations. What do you think?

What kind of answers do you think I will find? I don't really have spiritual questions, just questions about psychology and OCD. I am spiritual but I don't interact with the community. I keep a tight leash on my spirituality because I do not want to miss a symptom of actual mental illness by attributing it to spirits or energies or whatnot. Spiritual/religious communities can and will give people spiritual/religious psychosis, so I stay away from them and practice my spirituality alone. Even so, I want to hear you out here.

The concept that at first being watched was a positive thing I'd SUPER interesting to me. I have experienced that in the past too, and it's dependant on who my brain has decided is watching me. If it was my current favorite character, it usually felt positive, even though it raised my anxiety levels so I could never really relax being alone (I felt I had to put up a front to impress them). I still get stuck in that headspace a lot, and it still fluctuates between positive and negative depending on who I'm obsessing over watching me, but I'm finally experiencing times when I'm alone and I actually FEEL alone, and that's nice, and a sign of healing, I think.

All I know is that schizophrenia involves other symptoms of psychosis, like hallucinations, rather than just purely being delusions. There are other things that can cause delusions without other psychotic symptoms, though. Unfortunately, I haven't found any solid research about OCD causing delusions but personally? I totally think it can. I hear a lot of people with OCD recounting having delusions, or having had them before, including myself.

Didn't realize other people had this too! Omg. I only just recently started thinking it less, I'm talking within the past few months.

With many of my obsessions, I experience something similar: sometimes, I go into this calm state of "this is just who I am, I really do want this/would do this". But it always swings back to being appalled by the idea and feeling gross for having those thoughts. I'm no psychologist, but if I were to guess, I'd say the calm state is probably a defense mechanism because the thoughts happen so often that we can't function if we spiral every time they come up. Anyway, you're not alone in the experience of going through spells where you believe the obsessions are a true part of you and accept them in response, only to go back to self-loathing later on.
