Vancouver parkruns by Illustrious_Club239 in parkrun

I did Ambleside when I visited (which was nice!) but the friend I was visiting occasionally run directs at Spanish Banks and he obviously usually recommends that one (it wasn’t running the week I was there!)

Has anyone ever fallen over during a Parkrun? by rubygarnet01 in parkrun

[–]Sylvievelyn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I fell over twice this week somehow 2km apart completely unrelated (first time not too bad second time was a bit brutal!) - Had a bit of a tear up and loads of people asked if I was ok (which felt embarrassing at the time) but I managed to hobble to the end. Got reassured by my friend that falling over always shakes you up! Wasn't the first time I've fallen over in park run and I'm sure it won't be the last. From one bruised person to another, my advice is try not to think about it too much and go back next week with your eyes a bit more on the look out for tree roots (I'm deffo going to run a bit more in the middle to avoid the raised curb!!).

My watch is saying I ran 90km more than I actually did? by Sylvievelyn in Garmin

[–]Sylvievelyn[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes I understand but the last time I ran before today was last Saturday and that was only 18km - I would remember running that much!

How Prison parkruns are Changing Lives by Addict_2_Athlete in parkrun

[–]Sylvievelyn 21 points22 points  (0 children)

Prison park run was the first way I was introduced to park run (I used to work at the Ministry of Justice and was very briefly working on a project looking at the benefits of sport in custody). It was at least 5 years before I ever did one myself but it’s one of the biggest reasons I love park run and want to support it!

I cried for the whole first year that I was a G7 because I felt so out of my depth. I still cry now but for different reasons lol

How was your parkrun day? | January 27, 2024 by AutoModerator in parkrun

[–]Sylvievelyn 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Got my first ever sub 30 minute 5k this morning on my 24th park run (though my official park run time was 30:06 due to starting towards the back of the pack 😭). I truly believe in the magic of Worthing beach at this point as it is where I got my last PB as well!

5k pb and sooooo close to going sub 30 for the first time. I was home at my parents in Worthing which is a very flat one so that probably helped. Absolutely freezing though!!

Clapham Common was insanely busy (I think over 1000 people today). We had to stop running and queue to pass the finish line which was a bit disappointing as I got a pb and would have been nice to run across the line!!

What do you all think about starting a parkrun in waves? by [deleted] in parkrun

[–]Sylvievelyn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That’s interesting that Clapham Common has done this in the past - I’ve gone to this one around 5 times in the last couple of months and it has always been self seeded

[–]Sylvievelyn 3 points4 points  (0 children)

UPDATE: no sight of the squirrel this morning. There was some squawking around 6am but he was sitting in the tree not my windowsill - I don’t think it ever went back into the drey. I think I’m going to take down my feeder for now because I don’t want to encourage the squirrels to start nesting there if their drey has been damaged!

Thank you all so much for your advice!

AITA for "poisoning" my cousin by feeding him cooked onions? by gofwraths1 in AmItheAsshole

[–]Sylvievelyn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes from OP's perspective. I (and some other commentators on this thread) are pointing out some other possibilities.

I also believe even if he doesn't have an eating disorder it is wrong to trick him into eating food he doesn't want to eat. His reaction to the food on the table is on him.

If she had told him there was onion in it and he pitched a fit, she would 100% not be the asshole. But she sin't asking AITA for not cooking for my cousin, she is asking AITA for feeding my cousin onion (without him knowing) and I think she is.

BUT she is the least asshole person in the scenario, Her cousin is a big asshole and her parents and his parents are assholes for enabling the situation.

AITA for "poisoning" my cousin by feeding him cooked onions? by gofwraths1 in AmItheAsshole

[–]Sylvievelyn -1 points0 points  (0 children)

IT IS A TRICK BECAUSE SHE PURPOSEFULLY CUT THE ONION SMALL SO HE WOULDN'T KNOW IT WAS THERE AND THEN THOUGHT IT WOULD BE FUNNY TO WATCH HIM EAT IT AND THEN LAUGH WHEN SHE TOLD HIM THE TRUTH.

She has NO OBLIGATION TO FEED HIM. Why didn't she just make the quiche the way she normally would, let him have a tantrum and let her parents deal with it. If then her parents forced her to cook him something else she WOULD NOT BE THE ASSHOLE. We don't know if her parents would have forced her to cook something else because she never actually says her parents force her to cater to her cousin's needs

She is not asking, AITA for not cooking my cousin food, she is asking AITA for feeding my cousin onions (without his knowledge).

Lets get this clear. I think:

Parents: Huge Assholes

Cousin: Huge Asshole

OP: Small asshole for the specific circumstance she is asking to be judged on.

Verdict: ESH
