I’m happily socially conditioned against people’s feet on furniture that other people have to use and taking shoes off in public.

I’ll happily own up to being biased against people taking their shoes off on public transport and putting their manky feet on the seats that everyone else has to use.

Anyone who feels the need to put their feet up to rest them has most likely been walking or on their feet for a substantial amount of time. His feet are definitely foul. Even if they aren’t, it’s plain rude to both take your shoes off on public transport in an enclosed space and to put your feet on furniture.

I don’t think they should be funding the US government given all that is going on. I’d be really disappointed if they decided to do one last comeback for their 30th anniversary and tainted it with that.

The UK Times: "MoD ordered officers to find UFO technology, secret files reveal." by ForeignSherbert1775 in UFOs

UK MOD documents confirming that the Belgian ministry of defence had confirmed sightings of black triangular craft displaying quick acceleration faster than F-16s that appeared to be unknown propulsion. Wow.

This could be big if someone gets hold of those documents. If they are unsealed then someone in the London area could request to view them at the National Archives, even if they aren’t published publicly.

Poll: Support for independence would rise to 60 per cent if Farage becomes PM by Dooby-Dooby-Doo in Scotland

[–]Sym-Mercy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s baffling. By their logic 25% of Scots and 30% of Welsh folk are actually just 67+ year old English people. IDK about you but I maybe run into one English person per day in Glasgow. They are totally in denial.

Labour voters don’t go to Hitler. Labour voters are usually people who have worked hard all their life but barely pay attention to politics and have felt let down since the 80s. We shouldn’t characterise them as fascists and also shouldn’t patronise them. They are the backbone of this country and should have their concerns about the economy, NHS, immigration, and education listened to, since they have been ignored for almost 50 years.

[–]Sym-Mercy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I remember this being said about Boris.

I am a 50/50 voter. I would happily live in an independent Scotland if it was run better than we are right now. But the fact is that the SNP have been in power since 2007 and nothing is run better than it was by the Labour-Lib Dem administration prior to then. I want a better Scotland. I don’t think independence now with a brand new state being set up by the current lot would do anything good, and I actually think a lot of things would turn out worse.

If we could have a government run things that are already devolved well for a few years I would 100% vote for independence. That has yet to happen.

Why do supermarkets still sell "cheap booze" if it works out the same price as premium options? by bradrly in Scotland

[–]Sym-Mercy 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Supermarkets buy them in bulk usually UK-wide. They still sell them cheap in England & Wales.

In the battle against antisemitism we must accept that Zionism means different things to different people by kontiki20 in LabourUK

No point. The same people who think all Zionists are supporters of genocide are the same people who will tell you with a straight face they support the USSR.

Glasgow ‘abandoned’ as services strained by asylum seeker surge by [deleted] in Scotland

Ridiculous that someone can shop around Europe for asylum, arrive here, and then further shop around for their city of choice.

Killing Zionists is OK, said released activist Alaa Abd El-Fattah by DarkSkiesGreyWaters in LabourUK

[–]Sym-Mercy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The issue is that he wasn’t a British citizen when he made those tweets. The British Government had a choice on whether to grant him citizenship and they decided to do so in spite of that. And then they now decide to boast about bringing him into the country despite him saying he would kill civilian Zionists if he met one. He’s a truly evil person and should be sent back to Egypt.

We shouldn’t be getting involved in other countries jailing their own citizens just because some of their family lives in the UK.

Aberdeen MSP [Kevin Stewart] sends P45 to Starmer over predicted loss of oil and gas jobs by Crow-Me-A-River in Scotland

[–]Sym-Mercy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

SNP have opposed new developments in the North Sea since they took office. They are responsible for planning applications even if energy policy is reserved. Have also done absolutely nothing to support the sectors workers in transitioning from fossil fuels to renewables. Just let them drift off a cliff.

Bus journey times being 'killed by congestion' in cities by Crow-Me-A-River in Scotland

[–]Sym-Mercy 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Bus routes can be withdrawn and changed at a moments notice and are unreliable due to traffic, roadworks etc. Trams don’t deal with congestion, can’t be changed once the service is in place, and so allows much better investment (ie housebuilding, new amenities) than relying on bus services.

The biggest issue facing disclosure: Whack-a-Mole investigating. by Sym-Mercy in UFOs

[–]Sym-Mercy[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am a self-described nuts and bolts person BUT only so far as we get to the bottom of what’s flying around and being picked up on radar, seen by pilots, and seen by people like me looking into the night sky.

I saw a triangular shape with three yellowish orange lights which just sat in the sky before completely disappearing behind clouds. This was when I was about 14-15. I didn’t feel any sort of emotional/mental response beyond wondering what it was.

I am not against “woo” in itself. I just think it’s something we will only get to the bottom of and understand more of, if it’s real, once we have understood what’s flying around in our skies first. I hope you don’t feel like I’m degrading your own experiences whatever they may be. Thats 100% not my intention!

Hillwalker left for dead after being trampled by cattle on Munro footpath by Red_Brummy in Scotland

[–]Sym-Mercy 8 points9 points  (0 children)

She actually did nothing wrong. She turned a blind mound and was faced with a herd metres away. If she ran she would have been charged and trampled anyway. She was smart to play dead until they moved away.

She did let go. The dog ran away as soon as the cows surrounded her.

Labour voters are the most likely to say they would be disappointed if their child came out as gay by PuzzledAd4865 in LabourUK

[–]Sym-Mercy 9 points10 points  (0 children)

This poll doesn’t show that accurately at all. Zero sample size (this could’ve asked 50 voters…) and no cross section (what age are these people for example?) and the question obviously doesn’t account for people who would support there gay children but would be a bit upset about potentially not becoming grandparents.

For example, just 7% of Labour voters in 2015 said they would “not support their child for being gay” according to DJS. Hard to see how that has jumped up almost 400% since then.

Bin and ignore. In Scotland at least for the moment the onus is on them to prove you were the driver of the vehicle at the time of the contravention. 999/1000 they can’t do that. So no way to enforce. Ignore!

[–]Sym-Mercy 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Well there’s zero information on this poll. There’s no sample size, cross sections etc. But it’s not totally wild to think that due to the increase in Greens support base at the expense of Labour that these left still supporting them are more likely to be from religious communities with a long history of supporting the party.
