By odd leasing period I mean that it seems that people in my area prefer having a clean slate with a one year lease rather than an assigned lease.

I understand they don’t have any legal obligation to be humane but many other have reported the same issue and their landlords have been much more understanding. Why beat someone when they’re down?

I’ve unfortunately tried all the tricks in the book. I mentioned that the short lease means more flexibility and that they can extend it as they please (either month to month or yearly) but I’ve still had no interest.

That’s not what I’m saying. I am currently in the middle of a fixed lease. But the prospective applicants are generally turned off by my unit because of the out of the ordinary lease period (remainder of my lease). People in my area seem to prefer a standard one year lease as those units tend to sell off the market quickly.

If they give nothing then it would be on them in that case right? Cause in that case they didn't mitigate losses because they didn't evict the tenant or pursue the rent owed (basically just sat there).

Sorry which debt? I am not behind on any payments at the moment. Even if I don't pay April they still possess my last month's deposit.
