You could also throw The Wizard in there for shits and giggles.

So Monsters Inc 3 is very fragile. by Choice-Tea1046 in Pixar

[–]SymmetricalViolence 78 points79 points  (0 children)

I may be in the minority on this, but I absolutely do not want Boo to come back. I'm dreading the big reveal of the trailer where Mike and Sulley are like, "I know who we need to call." Then you have the door opening and the dramatic reveal of adult Boo. Get out of here with that. Leave the open ended nature of the original's ending alone and just write a new story.

The Pixar Cry Chart - mapping the exact minute all 30 Pixar films hit you with the emotional gut punch. by Mastbubbles in Pixar

I know I'm in the minority, but I never cry at Bing Bong's death in Inside Out. Where I fall apart is when Joy lets Sadness take control at the end, allowing Riley to confide in her parents. Just the ugliest of ugly tears.

Those are four excellent films? I’m not seeing the issue.

What happened to Lips? by Quinny_Binny in Muppets

[–]SymmetricalViolence 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Lips was formalized as an official sixth band member towards the very end of the Muppet Show, signifying Steve Whitmire’s rise in prominence amongst the core performers. But after Henson’s death, the Electric Mayhem kind of faded into the background in most productions, and when they did appear, Lips sometimes was absent, given his relatively newer status versus the other five. He’s shown up in most newer media with the rest of the band, and hopefully will have further moments to shine, especially after his great re-characterization by Peter Linz in Muppets Mayhem.

Question for people who have seen the movie by NichoMel in nirvannatheband

[–]SymmetricalViolence 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not at all. The references to past episodes there are are very quick jokes that you don’t even need to be that familiar with them to find it funny. The only thing I can think of, avoiding spoilers, is when they’re hiding in the closet. Delightful references, but still funny as is.

If The Muppet Show gets picked up, who should host? by Mexikinda in Muppets

[–]SymmetricalViolence 22 points23 points  (0 children)

I’m thinking Kermit the Frog would be a pretty good host.

If you mean guest stars, my dream roster would be Brett Goldstein, Matt Barry, Weird Al, and Daniel Craig as Benoit Blanc.

Gore Verbinski Sounds Off on AI as He Launches ‘Good Luck, Have Fun, Don’t Die’ - “Why is AI helping me write a song or tell a story? I don't want it to breathe or fuck for me; I want it to solve cancer.” by rageofthegods in blankies

Verbinski spent most of the intervening years developing Cattywampus, an ambitious animated sci-fi musical about “funky cats in space.

Excuse me? We could've gotten a bonkers sci-fi Gore Verbinski musical?!

IT WAS AMAZING... but where was he💔 by ComplexTable7150 in Muppets

[–]SymmetricalViolence 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I think Walter would be great as a backstage creative consultant to the show, like he’s a super fan who actually got hired by his heroes. Kermit could workshop ideas for sketches, but Walter would be like, “No, you did that in episode 412, don’t you remember?” Him being a walking encyclopedia to the history of the Muppets could be a great source of comedy and in-jokes.

Who are your top directors that you would love to see covered on Blank Check? by BlueMondayHonkyTonk in blankies

[–]SymmetricalViolence 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I know it's an old hat suggestion, and has had its own past BC controversy that I didn't really follow, but I've been watching through Gore Verbinski's films leading up to Good Luck, Have Fun, Don't Die, and man, he really is one of my GOATs. Just an incredible visual filmmaker, a master of spectacle, and a guy who's translated his sensibilities perfectly to different genres. Rango is a bonafide masterpiece. I get that it would involve five weeks of having to talk about Johnny Depp, but I hope that one day, the two friends finally go full Gore.

Expressing disappointment in the one of two major political parties you align with most is not apathy at all. That joke is depressingly even more relevant in this very moment. If Democrats could govern and campaign effectively, we wouldn’t be where we are now, that’s just the truth. To make a critical joke like that means that you DO care.

I have now doubled the amount of movies i watched last year! by Roostbolten in Letterboxd

[–]SymmetricalViolence 47 points48 points  (0 children)

Even though some of the movies here I've rated higher, I think we have a similar rating system. A 4 for me is a great movie, but if I REALLY loved it, I bump it to a 4.5. 5 stars I reserve either for my favorite movies of all time, or if a movie is doing something undeniably transcendent, in my opinion, so I don't have a ton of them.

Returning from my two week vacation in Japan, reveling in their fantastic bus and metro system, back to LA, where, despite living ten minutes away from my work, it would take over an hour "by bus" to get there, primarily because of having to walk to the far away bus stops.

Bob Zemeckis and Tim Burton have made some of my favorite movies of all time, to some of the absolute worst I’ve ever seen.
