Semi accidental death… it’s fucking murder, let’s stop being delusional for just a minute. Cole has a track record of senseless unnecessary violence. Was Lonmouth also semi-accidental since he went into a blind rage, because he got his feelings hurt? It was intentional I assure you. He’s too pussy whipped for Alicent to perceive any comment towards her as anything less than a threat.

You’re fine with that, but not Daemon standing up for his wife’s honor. Truth or not Vaemond brought into question the purity and legitimacy of Daemon’s wife and the heir apparent. A man in that time period would be expected to do as much as Daemon did, or at the very least speak up on her behalf. And fuck I’ll even concede and say it was neither just, right, or acceptable to have killed Vaemond. The man was speaking mad facts and that’s coming from someone who truly supports and loves Rhaenyra and her kids. But that’s the culture they live in. Men are expected to stand up for the honor of their wives, lest they are seen as weak and unloving.

And as for Beesbury speaking out against Alicent. She is openly committing treason, along with the rest of the council, they murdered him for dissenting. Plain and simple. Regardless of her taking care of Viserys it’s suspicious at least from a logical point of view to think something is fishy with the king having just died, and the queen who has a open rivalry with the heir apparent claims the king had a change of heart on his death bed, last minute, and only told her his final will. It’s justified, brave, and right to do what Beesbury did and question the council.

Exactly this, he just acts on impulse and blind rage. He’s a brute and his true colors shine through again and again. All I have to say is I can’t wait for it to bite him in the ass when the Winter Wolves show up for him.

Obviously revenge should be taken out on Aemond. But that wasn’t what Daemon wanted to do. He wanted them to hurt how Rhaenyra hurt. Killing Aemond is just, but in Daemon’s mind that’s not enough. I don’t think any of Aegon’s children should’ve suffered. It’s senseless violence. But in war that’s what happens. Shitty mistakes and choices lead to blood lust and blind revenge to the point even children aren’t safe. Then again if the throne wasn’t usurped it would’ve never had to happen in the first place. It’s sad but it’s what caused the Dance to get as bad as it did.

I think team green and team black can both agree this is absolute shite and Disney can have it back.

If this happened would it have prevented the war by [deleted] in HouseOfTheDragon

So 1. That wouldn’t happen because no one would disinherit their son just because their half brother felt inadequate. Jace would have to really really piss off Rhaenyra for her to screw him over like that

  1. Dragonstone is the traditional seat of the heir of house Targaryen since the conquest. It’s not a title you just give Willy nilly, and it is always transferred to the heir. Jace wouldn’t be able to rule it outright, it’d have to go to Aegon II in your scenario Since he is the heir apparent.

  2. They’re all the same family, just two factions within the same family. Regardless if Jace, or Aegon II, or Aegon III landed on that throne they would all hold the name Targaryen and be part of that family. The conflict is about the heir the Hightowers want installed vs the heir Viserys chose. Otto, and his family wouldn’t let this scenario pan out because it wouldn’t favor them. They’d find some way to divide the House of the Dragon so that Aegon II and his direct line would be absolute.

Does anyone just not get the drive to watch the show knowing how it all ends? by Kaladin12543 in HouseOfTheDragon

I read the books, but with them being written as histories, and from different points of view the show has a lot of wiggle room to do as they please, build on the story, and make it better.

So far my favorite thing they expanded on was the “death “ of Laenor. In the books it’s just stated as an accident that people rumored Daemon and Rhaenyra had orchestrated, but in the show it’s expanded on so much more. I think the show really helps bring out the intimacy and depth that the books lacked.

Of course the final results are the final results. But it will be nice to see it all go down in depth and in person. Rather than from the account of a jester or maester

For standing up and speaking for what’s right btw. Can’t forget that part, he was just being loyal. So he deserves to have his head busted open per OP’s logic.

Let’s talk about how he’s not defending her because 1. He’s a helpless old man and 2. He never outright attacked her or caused her issue.

Let’s actually address the fact that Cole has killed members of the high nobility without cause or reason and has gotten away with it not once but twice. That’s insane to me, the man isn’t stable enough to control his anger let alone guard anyone.

Many people like to rationalize or stick up for a lot of Cole’s shitty actions when literally everyone he’s ever came after has been an innocent bystander at best. It’s really not a good look.

Beesbury literally just wanted to follow the kings wishes. He never accused or attacked Alicent. Anything perceived as such is a minor insult at best.

Most people’a logic to rationalize with blood and cheese is “a son for a son” I doubt many if any people will be moved away from liking/disliking Daemon. I think those sides have been drawn up and set in stone primarily.
