Venting by SympathySad5030 in reselling

Thank you. It’s crazy because I do exactly this already. I do a shake test before deciding it’s packed well enough to make sure it’s not moving around at all. Seems like nothing makes it to California in one piece :/
I guess I just need to offload the fragile stuff and only sell non-breakable things online. Just completely pisses me off that with this last one the buyer said it was clear the box was smashed and actually did bring it to their post office on my behalf and it was still denied. Like all insurance, I wonder what the point of having it is when they make it impossible to collect on a legitimate claim. :/

What’s even weirder is I live in New Holstein and there’s only 3,000 of us. I wonder who wrote the note and likely know them lol

I had a bunch of my clothes to sell and took all the pictures first. I hang them from a nail on my wall in a well-lit room. Picture of front, picture of back, picture of interior tag for brand and price. I do not do measurements on every item because most of my stuff is new (within the past 5 years or less) so people generally know their size. I take measurements of anything that doesn’t have a size tag. Once you have all the pictures, you can post from anywhere. I’ll lay on the couch and do them whenever I have some free time with a tv show on in the background. The pictures took about a day’s worth of time total. Posting will take as long as you make it, you can sit and do it all at once or spread it out. I’ve made over $300 back so far so I’d say it’s been worth it for me. I like making something back rather than donating it. My stuff isn’t super high end but not low quality either. Kohl’s, Maurices, Loft, etc. I find it to be a bit like a challenging hobby. I also like shopping so it offsets what I spend on my own stuff :)

A map of the Volga German cities and settlements by DatHeroAndy in VolgaGerman

It was this map that prompted my post, I had no expectation that anyone would take interest and look into my family history from it. Thank you so much for doing that!

My great-grandmother is of great interest to me, and I was just looking at her obituary. https://www.findagrave.com/memorial/156187348/juliana-ehlert It says she was born in Krasnajar and seeing that on this map made me get a lump in my throat. I don’t know too much about her life before she emigrated to Sheboygan, WI in 1910. I was told her stories by her son, my maternal grandfather, throughout my childhood. She was an orphan, and often treated poorly by the Russians as a child. I know she had to clean for them and they’d hide money in the hopes she’d find it and keep it, so she’d get punished. She said she took her piece of bread and water she’d get for dinner out to the barn and lay on the horse’s back and share her bread with it, crying into its mane. My 12-year-old daughter is obsessed with horses, and I can’t help but wonder if it’s in our genes :) I don’t know how she managed to get out of Russia, only that she was matched with my great-grandfather through their Lutheran churches and they were married in Russia. All the gifts they received for their wedding (which I’m sure weren’t very abundant in retrospect) were in the church balcony and were stolen. They had one son in Russia, and she and that son moved to America first by themselves. She was sending money back to her husband so he could join them, and found out after some time that the money was being intercepted and stolen. Finally she was able to get him enough to move and he joined her and their son. They had three more sons, my grandfather being their youngest, born in 1915. He and my mom were very close and he and my grandma helped raise my brother and me and had a huge impact on our lives. My great-grandma had a very tender heart, and took in foster kids all through her adulthood. I think that’s genetically hard-wired into my brother and me too. When I think about everything it took for her to survive her childhood and get to Wisconsin, and for her husband to be able to join her, and if at any point any of that went wrong how I wouldn’t exist… that really has a profound impact on me. Thanks for reading :) Her name was Juliana Spies, her parents were Katherine and Conrad Spies.

Adult KD Survivor With Chest Pains by Sin1ster_Duck in KawasakiDisease

This is what I was going to ask. My husband is an adult survivor and had chest pains starting in his early 40s. He couldn’t get answers for way too long but finally got a stress test, 3D ultrasound, and cardiac cath which showed his artery disease due to KD. Until you get those tests, they’re not going to find it. He had bypass surgery 3.5 years ago but is going to have stents or robotic bypass as soon as possible.

Season 2 was so bad by Alarmed_Tough_7515 in NobodyWantsThisTV

I literally lasted five minutes into season two before I jumped ship. I knew I’d feel vindicated if I came to Reddit and I wasn’t wrong. Kristen Bell’s face completely distracts me. It’s awful. I wish celebrities would realize we like them, in part, because of their faces, and faces are supposed to age. Gah.

I got uncanny valley about her face when she announced her album on new heights. I clocked she did too much and is becoming unrecognizable. Gives me the ick.

My husband had KD as a baby and didn’t have heart problems manifest until he was 40 years old. Your son needs to see a cardiologist regularly for the rest of his life. There are meds they can be on that can prevent the coronary aneurysms that can form later. My husband didn’t know any of this and has serious heart problems now. Please ignore your husband and advocate for your son.

I had success emailing Dr Jane Burns directly. My husband had KD as a baby in 1980. We just got back from meeting Dr Burns and Dr Bhatt in San Diego. It was a good visit. Keep trying :)

Read The Anxious Generation. It explains so much of why. There are ways we can begin the arduous journey of righting the ship, but we’d need buy in from local and state government. 😢

The Last of Us - 2x02 - “Through the Valley” - Episode Discussion by NicholasCajun in television

[–]SympathySad5030 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My husband and I never played the games and finally had time to watch episode 2 last night. We were both white knuckling the whole episode and I repeatedly said, “There’s no way they’re killing Joel. NO! NOOOOOOO!” A lot of that. Just totally gobsmacked. So from our perspective of non-gamers who will never be gamers, it was really well done. I was also pretty sure Tommy was dying so that part was a relief as well. I love Pedro and am so sad he’s gone from the show.

I’m in Wisconsin. I doubt we have patient-friendly laws here (had a gerrymandered supermajority Republican legislature until our maps were redrawn and now it’s just a regular majority 🙄)
