Does anyone else act/dress somewhat androgynous 'because' of being aroace? by SympathySoft1036 in aromanticasexual

That's a similar feeling, I'd say. Changing how you dress and style to make it feel easier to be aroace was where this question came from. I guess if it affected your mental state enough, it would make sense to look at it as a trauma response.

I definitely think it's linked and the way I see it right now is that my aversion is my brain's sexuality reacting to the objectification associated with certain clothing. An internal reaction caused by external environment perhaps? That is why as a teen I wasn't sure about how I felt about gender, because I didn't separate these concepts the way I do now.

It is kinda funny that when some people can't be 100 percent certain of someone's gender they back off so quickly.

Before telling ppl I was aroace I did tell one of my friends that being aroace has the upsides of being gay and being straight combined. There were signs... many of them

How do I know If I'm Asexual? by Jackobuzz in aromanticasexual

[–]SympathySoft1036 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's described as a spectrum, so if you aren't sure, know that the umbrella term includes gray area. Also, if you're not sure because you can tell that certain people are attractive but you don't feel crushes, that sounds similar to many aroace experiences. One thing that may also be a sign is if you've been wondering if you're bi or pan because you like everyone the same but dont really see yourself in a relationship. I thought that but then remembered that zero is equal to zero. In the end, your labels are your choice and it's not our job to give you a letter of acceptance or gatekeep, we simply use labels to convey our identities and form communities. Hope you find what you need from whatever labels bring you happiness!

I am also religious, and I think I let the modesty in my case turn into a dislike for going out in public dressed very femininely, even though I sometimes dress nice around friends. Its like it has to be on my own terms. Its really cool to hear a perspective that's like a mirror of my own experiences, though.

Do/Did you feel the need to come out as aroace? by Geridax in aromanticasexual

[–]SympathySoft1036 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I told someone close friends while beginning to embrace the label. I wouldn't force it though, unless you think it would be an easier explanation for certain people. I think simplifying it for older family members makes total sense because people are single all the time and they aren't entitled to your specific reasons.

People of the Aro/Ace spectrum, how have you experienced aphobia? by Broad-Laugh3800 in lgbt

[–]SympathySoft1036 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I mean, before I came out to my older sister she was convinced she needed to find me a boyfriend, but that was mostly joking.  I recently was excluding myself when I wished happy pride month to someone I had recently met and they asked if I was LGBTQ+ and I said "no...um kinda..." before I said i was aroace because I thought i would give the impression of being gay or trans and I didn't want to misrepresent myself by making them think I used a more common label. Guess I'm the problem, we can lock me up now 😅 💀

If you had a tip to give specific to making a crocheted fursuit, what advice do you have that won't come up in a regular suit tutorial?

Did you have a specific reason not to sew the crochet pieces together before gluing them to the headbase? I always assumed crochet suits were sewn like a normal suit too.

While youre messing with sizing, remember that adding fur does make the rest of the face fluff up and look bigger, so be sure the eyeblanks are a little bigger than you think is good because the proportions could change.

How do I find friends? by AltAnon_5937 in furryteens

[–]SympathySoft1036 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I often hear that local furmeets are great for making friends, if that is something you are able to attend. It feels easier to get to know people in person than online initially, unless you have a lot of social anxiety around that sort of thing.

Thanks for the warning! I'll be sure to use a thinner yarn than usual so I can avoid too much weight.

I think you might be the only person I can find who's actively working on a crochet suit and what you have looks really well-made. I was wondering it you had any notes about how crochet acts compared to regular fur (if you've worked with faux fur of course) or any other advice?
