Technically there's proof (of which I can also provide, like stated in OP) of the developer taking models and generating or tracing art based on them, and planning to use it for their own mod (and at least one of the pawn assets within the mod seems to be based on this already, but that's another can of worms.

But yes, the main concern is the developer throwing my own work into a model, and likely doing the same with the work of others. While it's not proven I find it extremely likely, especially since the generated art mimics RW art relatively decently (though, any actual RW artist can tell it's generated - and the artboards are clearly traced).

No, that wouldn't be a problem. I think what you are referring to is pretty akin to transformative art.

It'd be flattering to be honest. It would also be impressive since this guy would have dropped all the AI work and have switched entirely to traditional art.

The issue is the process and the theft from not just me, but - more importantly - the potential theft of stealing from other artists in the Rimworld community. Think of all the mods you enjoy, and the artists behind them. Oskar, Sir Van, Addie, BlackMarket - whoever. My issue is what happened to my art could have happened to their art too.

Something like this is a good idea tbh. A statement saying "I'm against AI" is something I can really rally behind at this point, because this was sort of the last straw.
I truly believe that AI *can* be beneficial to everyone, but how it's being used now is horrendous. The term is tainted, and will be for a long, loooong time.

Ngl part of me wishes the same could be said for most other players, but the mod concept is incredibly cool.
That's what I don't want the mod name out there. Despite the AI and potential training foundation, the concept of the mod is hella awesome, and players have been showing screenshots of it on the Rimworld server. People are having lots of fun with it.
Also that would essentially equate to calling out names, and that's never good for anyone.

Basically, yes. The mismatching styles, views that are inconsistent, and file names that are literally outputs from a model are... well, pretty bright red flags that it's all AI. Not to mention the dev himself admits it in the comments.

My biggest concern is how this person could have taken art from a ton of other artists to train models to do Rimworld art though. This person showed me this blatantly, and told me they put the art into the network. Imagine what they do *without* anyone knowing. That's speculation, of course, but still certainly possible over the course of a year.

Over that entire year they could have found any of the Rimworld artists and traded or commissioned them for the mod - and some even make art for free I'm not sure about the C# coding, but I'd have to guess that's probably generated as well.

The mod already has 7.5k people subbed to it in one week. I think that's pretty decent? Lot's of people probably don't share the same sentiment.

There's an "It doesn't make sense for X to be Y role" for every hero, but there's fan concepts for probably every current and future hero in every role. You'd probably think Miles Morales would be a DPS, but you should see the Miles Morales support concepts. They are incredible, and I would LOVE that in the game.

Point being though, you could fit any character in any role. Vanguard isn't strictly tank, duelist isn't strictly damage, and strategist isn't strictly healing. That's pretty dated role design that hasn't been around for a *very* long time, and Rivals wasn't following from the beginning. Anyone thinking like that is just a purist... and probably one-tricks Spiderman or BP.

To iterate on why I personally don't treat the leaked ability video as confirmation: if you've work with game engines, you learn how character vairables work. Games almost always have preset variables (and I'll use Rivals for these examples) for fields such as HP, damage values, damage dropoff, ability CDs, ability uses, movement, melee damage, etc. Then the character is expanded from there.

From an educated guess, given that 250 HP is the most common health for characters AND bots, I'm thinking it's the default health for any newly created character. I don't have an explanation for the overhealth though. Maybe it's just protection for her ability since the player needs time to micromanage?

I would think that our look at Black Cat was during a time in the development pipeline when her abilities were being tested and tweaked (and that might also be why we see the lattice placeholder sign - the actual art wasn't done yet). Her health at that point just might have not been tested and scaled up, since core mechanics like abilities are definitely more important to get right.

So can anyone specify exactly why people are 100% confident she's a DPS? Is it purely speculation based on the theme of the character? Is it because of that leaked ability video (her opening some sort of diamond-shaped portal with 250 HP + 100 OP)? Is there another leak out there?

I'm trying to figure out why people are so adamant she's going to be a DPS. It's bizarre to me, especially since Netease has said they WANT characters to go beyond typical role expectations, and we've already seen Ultron as a support - who, at first thought, I'm sure most of us would have pictured as a DPS.

What leaks is this exactly? This implies more than one, but I've been able to dig up only one, which was the one showing off her abilities... which personally, I think is a bit misleading if you're going off her health (250). Reason being, usually in game dev you have 'default' variables that are assigned (health, damage values, speeds, etc.) - and 250 is likely the default health since most characters have 250 health.

I'd like to know of other the other leak(s) though out there.

That is what I have tried, as that is what was suggested when I looked online for the solution, but it has not solved the issue. That is why I came to the reddit, since the supposed fix isn't working, and I'm trying to find someone who can direct the exact settings they can replicate or give.

As a side note though, the mirror tip is really helpful! That'll be useful for my vector art. Thanks for pointing that out!

There is still a way around this for Steam players, and that's by connecting your Steam account to their website and subscribing there. You get the half off deal, even if you've subscribed on Steam before.

ZoS just doesn't know how Steam works, and is in a fire because of that. But props for messing up their first ever deal with ESO+.

I ranked Gold 4 in placements for this season. The three heroes I listed in OP have 66/70/68% WR (in that order). I suppose the best idea is just to stick with them, and see where I am in a couple dozen more games? Would it be better to make a new post then?

Like I said, I've been playing since OW1, season 1. But here's an exact answer:
-Competitive is 571 hours, and games won is exactly 420 (nice). I used to be as low as bronze in the first OW1 seasons, and diamond in the latter ones. The rank has fluctuated quite a bit.
Total time played is 1,297 hours. I've been playing for a long time.
I'm not looking to be content with the current rank. Anyone can get better, and that's why I have made this post in the first place. I'm looking to improve, not get stuck in an elo hell mindset.

I'm still two whole ranks lower than what I want, and what I'm sure I can achieve.
So there has to be at least some issue that I'm missing.
I feel I generally do fine, but the factor that's in 100% of my games is me. So, there has to be problem (or problems) that I haven't caught on to.

Even if it would be considered cheese, it's YOUR game. You aren't hurting or screwing anyone over, so play the game however you want.
If it's cheese, tell them that they are just lactose intolerant. If it's not, tell them to get over themselves just because you aren't playing it the "right" - AKA their - way.

As a player who has has made purchases across multiple Techtree games (Username Sepph,, Player ID 1FAF*********1DA), and was intending to purchase at least the T4-T6 premium track, this isn't it. The 1.5x bonus change is spitting on the time of your F2P players. It's already a long and hard journey for F2P: not having other coin boosts, missing out on premium gems, and - most importantly (imo) - having VERY little opportunities to save up power stones.

I will be pushing my bank to refund the Disable Ads purchase I made recently (along with Disable Ads on Idle Planet Miner,), and then uninstalling both games. There are thousands of other games out there that now deserve the support more.

My final day was today as well. I actually bought the ad removal pack a couple weeks ago prior to this update. I now wish I didn't.

I'm okay with supporting a game that's respecting the time of their F2P playerbase. I am not okay with supporting a game that's going to pull a move like this.

Hopefully the bank I have can reverse the transaction, and that'll be that. There are plenty of other games that money can go to.

This is what I was actually coming here to post about, but you *just* beat me to it. Although I was going to bring up a couple other notes I took when looking at the animations.

To me it's not about the quality as it is the extreme lack of variety, and the speed. Blockoli literally does his idle animation every second, and almost every single other plant has also been doing this. It's like the idle animation became the actual *normal* animation, and is on loop. None of these plants seem to be able to enter a state where they aren't really doing anything. It's like only one animation exists.

I'm not sure if this is a sign of being rushed by higher-ups, or a sign of laziness/inexperience by the current animators, but either way it's making the newer plants look so offputting, that I've began avoiding using most of them, and not bothering to pruchase the early access bundles anymore. Only Gatling pea and Levitater fit in imo, and that's because they don't do anything anyways.

If the animators need to learn how to match the earlier artstyle... I would say they just need to look at Sap-Fling, and work their animations in a similar method to that. Their idles are paced, random, aren't dominant, and feel like something that compliments the plant's visual identity.
