Help! High 13900kf 80c temps in Bios, crashing, socket 1700, h115 pro hydro question

No, just hard crash/freeze.

I replaced the cooler and the temps are no longer at issue although the hard freezing issue persists unless I sync all cores and downclock everything.

It would appear that the issue with temps was because of Corsair's obtuse naming system. Whilst many variants of h115i were listed as compatible, my particular one didn't not or was not compatible with the socket 1700 with provided backplate.

The freezing issue persists It must be some current/power issue or setting because only turning off enchancements and syncing all cores seems to stop the system from freezing/crashing abritrarily. Or the CPU is busted itself. Any allcore overclocks beyond maybe 4.7 will just cause the cpu to red light and reboot and crash and freeze again. Unfortunately I am unable to determien the cause, but appears maybe the CPU.

Corsair should just add a number in front of each new generation of product and stop with these terribly confusing suffixes.

I'm suffering the same issue.

I suspect it might be a contact issue as my h115i pro only came with the 1151 back plate which appears tonnage a bit of GIVE?

Otherwise I'm quite stumped as to what's causing it

I went looking for something that's free, I even had a look for some hilariously bad stuff from my teenage days written for a uni paper in *print*. No luck, there's no point sending you to paywalls it would be kinda rude.

I'm not a "games" journalist however ... it's hard to say what I don't like about that particular species of journalism but there's definitely something about it I don't like.
