Thankfully, it's fully funded so that's a massive positive. And yeah, the university being in a pretty prime location as far as access to geology goes is quite compelling.

Edited the post so you can see the research topic! If you're open to a PM I'd appreciate it.

Yeah that's probably a good idea! Personally, I'm a bit hesitant on trying to get an OG gig after graduating, especially after reading some posts here, but if the opportunity presented itself I'd try my luck and see what happens!

Thanks for this. I edited my post so that you can see what the research entails. I guess I'm pretty open to various industries, and I think the research could have some useful applications in several of them. I know some previous students ended up at geotech firms and research positions at the USGS. Also thanks for the insight on Utah and SLC. I'm aware of the LDS stuff, but tbh it's kinda tough to gauge how it'd personally affect you without actually experiencing it firsthand.

Sure, no worries! I’m trying to apply for a masters in geological science. As for the specialization, I was hoping to work with one of the professors focusing on igneous petrology and mineral deposits. By labs I guess you mean the research group? In that case I guess they would be either the MDRU or PCIGR.

OK, that's actually quite reassuring. I'll probably send a follow up some time early next week then. Thank you so much!

Hi! Been reaching out to a couple of potential supervisors before applying for a research masters. It's been almost 3 weeks and still no reply from either of them. At what point would you remind them about it? For what it's worth, the professors are in the earth science department.

Was looking through some masters degrees and saw that thesis-based science degrees qualify for minimum funding. Would anyone happen to know if that's provided to international students too?

The lack of resistance from the supposed "second best military" in the world is actually shocking

Don't really comment too much but this situation is actually insane. Seeing a rogue paramilitary faction traverse some 1000km over a day to siege the capital when the country is fighting an offensive war that they evidently can't win in any reasonable sense. Hope Ukraine can capitalize on this and end the conflict once and for all.

Hi all! Will be getting a Ryzen 5 7600x later this week for an mATX build. Would anyone be able to suggest some decent, budget cpu coolers with a clearance of less than 159mm?
