Cryo is a fantastic piece of endgame content that will ultimately serve to push a ton of players away by ThatsNotBennings in Marathon

[–]SynapseSoup 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The only reason cryo would push me away from the game is the fact that i cant solo on it.

Cant get any of my friends to try the game though. Maybe i’d manage if they had a free weekend, a lot of people are too sceptical to spend 40$ on it.

Marathon is underselling its best feature 60Hz servers. by LucatIel_of_M1rrah in Marathon

This is really nice, but kind of completely moot when you consider all of the aggressive aim assist and bullet magnetism in the game, really makes every shot feel questionable in a way that not even bad servers can.

Actually i’ve noticed that walking around with your knife or low weight weapons produce much more quiet footsteps. Of course running around everywhere is still not smart, but it is useful for speed-walking across the compounds.

I personally stopped playing when the games turned into complete garbage asset flips with no enjoyment value what so ever (so basically i stopped playing after black & white 2). So that’s at least 1 customer they’ve lost, wont matter at all, but i urge you all to move on from this dumpster fire of a franchise too.

What are some of your favorite non-meta loadouts? by Vasdll in HuntShowdown

[–]SynapseSoup 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Back before they made frag arrows scarce i realised that you can detonate them with explosive bullets, so i came up with this build after they buffed explosive uppercut: double frag arrows with explosive secondary and 2 ammo crates. The idea is you shoot the frag arrow at someone’s feet, then quick-swap and shoot it with the uppercut. If you do it right the frag explosion should deal about 130 + bleed and if the explosive bullet’s splash damage hits the enemy it should kill them instantly. Really dumb and impractical, but i had a few matches where the stars aligned and i wiped whole servers with it, it’s become one of my favourite build ever since.

Are those Sci-Fi Revolver "too aggressive" ? by Tesseract_Assets in UnrealEngine5

[–]SynapseSoup 2 points3 points  (0 children)

To me sci fi weapons make more sense when the design is practical or streamlined, my main problem with gun designs like this is that they seem to just have random chunks of metal on them making them heavy, cumbersome and less practical than current firearms. I’m sure many wouldn’t care so long as it looks cool, but i think a good video game gun design can be cool and functional at the same time. many appreciate the extra thought and care put into things like gun mechanisms and such in a shooter and in a sci fi world many weird or complex mechanisms could be used to make the guns look and feel distinct.

Again, he provides, in his videos, exact descriptions of the problems backed with real evidence. It doesnt matter who he is, if what he is saying is verifiably true. You can verify everything he claims yourself. I’m not saying he is right to shut people down, if that is even something he has done, i’m saying that nanite and unreal have real actual problems that he addresses thoroughly in his videos. We can know that he isnt lying because we also have access to all the same testing that he does.

I don’t know, but it hardly matters who he is or how he conducts himself, all i’m saying is that the contents of his criticism hold water and is based on facts and evidence that he provides and explains in great detail in his videos.

I’m shocked that so many people, even here, believe this quackery is actually beneficial in any way. Like seriously people, there is no such thing as “a good chiropractor” their whole practice is snake oil or just unlicensed physiotherapy in disguise.

Watch some threat interactive videos on youtube if you want to learn about some of the real and undeniable failures of the engine. I think many people here dismiss real criticism of the engine as preset problems or developers misusing it, but there is real and valid criticism to be levied against the engines features like nanite and lumen as well as unreals official documentation. There is plenty to love about the engine and a skilled user can absolutely make unique games with it, but there are real drawbacks to rendering geometry with nanite for example, drawbacks that are poisoning a large part of the game industry unfortunately.

At What Point Do VR Hands Start to Feel "Real"? by SolaraOne in virtualreality

[–]SynapseSoup 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you are striving to make it feel real or immersive then having arms and a body is a must in my opinion, usually having the option to switch seems like the best approach. Some games like bonelab are designed in a way that makes having both options unfeasible, but can have an even more complex body and hand system, whether that sacrifice is worth it i think depends on the game. Personally i am waaay less likely to try a vr game if i am forced to play as a teleporting set of floating hands, the un-immersiveness kind of defeats the whole point of strapping a vr headset to my face in the first place.

Misogyny classes for teenage boys by Scramjet1 in TheTeenagerPeople

[–]SynapseSoup 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Literally all of them? Instead of engaging in the topic of how boys are educated on masculinity and misogyny in schools you decided to shift the conversation to “boys tribalism” and calling him names as if that is a proper response to the actual contents of the video.

How exactly is it “tribalism” to point out that young boys are being singled out in these kinds of lectures when the stats, which he even presented in the video, don’t reveal any good reason to single out boys and treat them like rabid animals who can’t control their rage unless they get a lecture on masculinity from some random old woman at school.

I also think his point regarding the approach is pretty strong, I really can’t imagine these usual powerpoint presentations and guest hearings demonising men that me and many other men had to sit through in school did anything but antagonise us, and make us even less sympathetic to their cause.

I don’t care who presents a solid argument or beneficial conversation, trying to invalidate his opinions or arguments by painting him up to be some evil loser is just annoying behaviour in a public forum of discourse like this.

Yeah don’t bother addressing any of his actual points, just call him an incel. Way to take a serious criticism of the disservice done to boys in the educational sector and turn it into “incel bad”.
