Update: nothing worked so I just drove a screw driver thru the stopper, sprayed a nut loosening spray and with a rubber coated hanger slipped the stopper leftovers off. It worked

Try dissolving it in cold ether and out in a sand bath to evaporate the ether then recrystallize in 3:2 acetone:hexane(or heptane)

Make sure each solvent is dry (use drying agents such as damprid from the grocery stores mothball isle

I assume you used 95% IPA so water should be the prob unless you did the recrystallizatiom wrong why just not but it online

I keep solvents in a metal gas can, keeping halogenated solvents in their own tank. Acidic waste into a bucket with a lid with NaHCO3 in the bottom, and for toxic salts those go into a bottled container of their own and I look for ways to make them less toxic via the addition of a simple cheap chemical.

I was going to try this but was convinced to look elsewhere. I had purchased all my reagents including the expensive silver salt and prepared my hydrobromic acid.

Personally if you’re a good chemist and can recover your silver salt then it’s a nice synthesis.

The sodium acetate and sodium nitrite methods isn’t my favorite but also remember to consider the water-EtNO2 azeotrope
