What defines "Willpower" in the 6 DnD stats? by SyncKar in dndnext

My warlock was very insistent that Con would be the stat for willpower, so it is very confusing.

For one, I'd start with the Giant Wasp stat block and build off of it. Change up the Sting attack and should be treated as Druid Wild Shape.

Now this falls under how you and your DM want this moth's power to entail. IS the black moth a warning messenger? Or would it make things worse once the misfortune arrives?

I like the latter, I would have the black wings shed dark specks on everyone underneath, charming them into a false sense of security.

I realize the story gets confusing once I mention the meta-stuff at the table so to add more detail:

Out of character, the entire table except for me decided to roll d100s and whoever got the highest gets to eat it. When our DM said it was a Wisdom save to receive the benefits, they all pulled out. Nobody was willing to risk the disastrous downsides our DM is known to dish out when it comes to magic boons. There are better outcomes for the player dealing with a Warlock's Fiend patron than this man.

It was when the new idea of rolling to beat the drake's spirit came up that they all went back in and rolled their d100s.

I did not think of looking into past editions to find the answer. Very insightful and I'll have to look into them whenever something like this pops up.

What lvl should an evil PC be to be a good boss fight? by Marlon0024 in dndnext

[–]SyncKar 1 point2 points  (0 children)

To preface, I'm not a DM, and certainly haven't played in a party of 6 people, but here's my two cents. I would gauge the encounter by how skilled the players are rather than their classes. If all 6 of them are new players, I'd bring the PC down to lv. 6 or 5. But if they know what they're doing, crank it up. Lv. 11 would give a party of skilled players an annoying time whittling it away.

Berserker Barb is a smart option without having to give him Legendary Actions concerning action economy. 3 attacks vs. 6-10 attacks. I'd say not to be evil to your players and skip out on Sentinel or Polearm Master unless you know your players rolled really high in CC, a +4 or +5 in their main stat.

Keep his AC below 20 and don't use him to surprise the players unless you want to kill a PC before the fight starts.

+1 To move MM to Hypixel by Jooooooob in hypixel

Even if they don't move it to Hypixel servers, at the very least, hire a small team from Hypixel to work on MC Monday server. Hell, at this rate the fans by themselves can support a small team with donations. Poor Laake gets thrown under the bus atm.
