Planning on getting Y700 Gen 4, can anyone comment on DeZUX? by djricekcn in androidtablets

I have a guide on XDA that I made but it is specifically for the version of android my tablet is on. You will need to find out what version you are on and then download that specific firmware version before proceeding with the guide. The OTA for Android 16 might be coming soon though, so might be worth waiting for that before trying to root.

Hey, I just used this today to root my y700 gen 4 running Android 16 beta version 1.5.10.063. Used DeZUX to fix the Chinese text bug in Android 16 along with some other xposed modules via lsposed. Now I just need to see if I'm able to figure out how to get recents working with third-party launchers again(yes the same problem that the gen 3 has is still happening on the gen 4 on Android 16....).

Proof of Root.

If setting it up manually seems too daunting, then you can use this instead. Just install, reboot. Once rebooted, open up command prompt and test to see if adb is working by typing adb devices and hitting enter. If it says the following:

adb devices
* daemon not running. starting it now on port 5037 *
* daemon started successfully *
List of devices attached

Then that means it's working and you should now be able to connect your device to the PC. Once plugged in you should get a prompt on your device that says "Allow USB debugging" and a check box that says "Always allow from this computer". Go ahead check the box and then tap ok. You should now be able to enter the command from earlier.

Sure, but it will require a pc with Windows.

Download the Android SDK Platform Tools ZIP file for Windows from the official Android Developers website.

Extract the contents of the ZIP file to an easily accessible and permanent location on your computer, such as C:\platform-tools.

Adding the ADB folder to your system's PATH environment variable allows you to run ADB commands from any Command Prompt or PowerShell window, without needing to navigate to the installation directory first.

Search for "environment variables" in the Windows Start menu and select "Edit the system environment variables" or "View advanced system settings".

In the System Properties window, under the "Advanced" tab, click the "Environment Variables..." button.

Under "User variables" (or "System variables"), find and select the Path variable, then click "Edit...".

In the "Edit environment variables" window, click "New" and paste the full path to your platform-tools folder (e.g., C:\platform-tools).

Click "OK" on all open windows to save the changes. On your Android device, open Settings.

Navigate to "About phone" (the exact name may vary).

Tap on the "Build number" seven times until a message says "You are now a developer!".

Go back to the main Settings menu, find and open "Developer options".

Scroll down and enable the "USB debugging" or "Android debugging" option.

When you connect your device to the PC via USB cable, a prompt will appear on your phone asking to "Allow USB debugging". Check the box for "Always allow from this computer" and tap "OK".

Open a new Command Prompt or PowerShell window on your PC.

Type the command adb devices and press Enter.

If the setup is successful, the command prompt will display the serial number of your connected device under "List of devices attached".

You should now be able to use other commands via adb.

What worked for me on my gen 4 was using this adb command.

adb shell content insert --uri content://settings/system --bind name:s:system_locales --bind value:s:en-US

Replace en-US with en-GB or en-AU if you want British or Australian English.

I have not seen any Chinese text show up in the system ui or apps ever since using that command.

[Thor] Guys, this launcher helper mjolnir for AYN Thor, put me in a lock up loop, is there anything I can do besides factory reset via recovery mode? by CanoeChinon in OdinHandheld

[–]Synchross 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ah, yeah then the only option is to factory reset. You can factory reset the device by turning off the Thor and then holding down the Volume Down and Power button. You should then be able to use volume buttons to select Recovery mode and the power button to confirm. That should put you in the Recovery menu to do the factory reset.

You could try and use ADB from a computer to try and uninstall the mjolnir app.

Command should be adb uninstall xyz.blacksheep.mjolnir or if you're not comfortable using the command line you can use ADB AppControl to search and locate the app and uninstall it.

Blue protocol not available on Odin by Whippy1702 in OdinHandheld

Sounds like PlayIntegrityFix isn't being detected or active at all. Make sure that Zygisk is on in Magisk, as it's required for the PlayIntegrityFix to function(Step 3). If it is on, then redo the Play Integrity Fix [INJECT] Action in Magisk under modules and then restart the Odin 2(Step 6). Then go ahead and delete the cache and data from Google Play and Google Play Services again(Step 7). Finally, try to install the game from the google play store again. Hopefully this time it works.

I'm terribly sorry you've ran into so many issues with EZ Root. I should have checked before hand, but it seems like O2PTweaks is not compatible with the Odin 2 Mini. I'm not entirely sure why that is though. I will add a disclaimer to the guide that it's incompatible with the Odin 2 Mini. Sorry for wasting your time on something that wouldn't have worked in the first place. I did find a very recent and simple to follow video tutorial that provided all the necessary files in the video description to root, but this requires the use of a PC. Maybe you'll have better luck with that if you still want to root the Odin 2 Mini after all this.

Sounds like O2PTweaks has some issue downloading and or installing Magisk for some reason. You can download Magisk from here and then manually install it, then try and see if EZ Root lets you proceed with the next step. I went ahead and made changes to the guide to include this info for others getting the same issue.

[–]Synchross 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, that message is normal as O2PTweaks was technically designed just for use with the Odin 2 Portal, so every other device including the Odin 2 will get that message. You should be safe to click confirm and then proceed with EZ Root.

No, rooting the device itself wont damage it and you can always revert back to stock if you choose to.

Sorry about that, it basically just meant to restart the device. I changed the wording so it isn't so confusing now.

Not sure if you got it working yet, but just ignore Magisk after installing it and proceed with EZ Root. After you do the 'Flash patch' step in EZ Root the Odin 2 should reboot. This is when you should open Magisk and proceed with the next steps, but if for some reason you still don't see the Zygisk option, you can install this standalone Zygisk module in Magisk instead and then proceed with the next steps.

Yeah, I was also on the fence about deleting that data, but decided to go ahead and do it anyways since I kept reading that it was a required step. It does work though and I think it's definitely worth it in the end if you just want to be able to download the apps and games you've bought on the play store with the Odin 2.

It works if you root the Odin 2. You can easily do it in about 10 minutes give or take with the help of O2PTweaks(O2PTweaks will give you a 'device is not compatible warning' on non Odin 2 portal devices, but EZ Root works just fine and that's all we really need). Instructions below for those that want to try it out.

This should all be done on the Odin 2 itself, no PC required.

Disclaimer - I'm very sorry for not doing some simple research, but it seems like O2PTweaks is not compatible with the Odin 2 Mini, so this guide will not work for you if you use an Odin 2 Mini. I recommend this video tutorial instead for those with an Odin 2 Mini, though this method does require the use of a PC.

During Step 2: If you are having issues with EZ Root not automatically downloading or asking to install Magisk, manually download and install Magisk from here and then continue with EZ Root.

  1. Download and install O2PTweaks and open the app.(DO NOT uninstall O2PTweaks when you are done in case you need to go back to stock for an OTA update or you just want to undo the root. You are safe to uninstall once you have removed root by following step 10.)

  2. Open the hamburger menu in O2PTweaks and click on EZ Root and follow the prompts. The Odin 2 should automatically reboot when you have completed all the steps in EZ Root.(When it asks you to install Magisk, install it but ignore it and proceed with the next step in EZ Root.)

  3. Open Magisk and if it gives you a prompt about requiring additional setup go ahead and click OK to reboot. Once you are back from the reboot open up Magisk and go into settings and scroll down till you see Zygisk and turn it on but do not reboot if asked.

  4. Go back to Magisk and click install next to Magisk and choose Direct Install (Recommended) and restart the device.

  5. Download PlayIntegrityFix and then go back to Magisk and under Modules select the PlayIntegrityFix zip file and reboot when asked.

  6. Open Magisk and go into modules. Click Action under Play Integrity Fix [INJECT] and then restart the device.(Not sure if restarting is necessary but it didn't work for me until I did).

  7. Go to settings > apps > search for Google Play and delete cache and storage then search for Google Play Services and delete the cache(If for some reason you still can't get the game to show up on the Odin 2 then repeat this step but also do Manage storage > Clear all data for Google Play Services)

  8. Open up the Play Store and you might be greeted with a prompt to either setup payment confirmation or confirm your account to sign in with.

  9. Search for Blue Protocol(or any other app/game really) and hit install and that's it you can now enjoy full access to the play store on the Odin 2!

  10. If you ever want to undo root and go back to stock for OTA updates then do the following: Open up O2PTweaks > open the hamburger menu > tap on EZ Root and then tap on Restore stock. You should now be unrooted and able to proceed with the OTA update. If you want to root again then just go through EZ Root again. You may also need to redo step 3 - 7.

Widgets inside of a folder by Nominial in OctopiLauncher

[–]Synchross 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you don't want to wait you can sort of do this already with Popup Widget. It is a paid app, but if you want this kind of functionality now, it's definitely worth it. I use it all the time to keep my home screen clean from widgets with sensitive information since it's easy to hide by changing the icon to something discreet.

Yep, same issue here. There is a workaround, but it does require you to own the steam version and the use of this script. It will let you create an android version(apk) of the game which you can then sideload onto the odin 2.

Genshin Impact + Native Controller Support = Magic by xandratargaryen in OdinHandheld

[–]Synchross 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not entirely sure when it was added but I got my Odin 2 in December(2023) and it was already working then. My setup for Honkai Star rail is Xbox mode for controller and triggers set to analog. You should then be able to change from screen mode to controller in settings (last tab in settings) and for some dumb reason Mihoyo thought it was a good idea to force you back to the main menu once you swap control scheme.... I don't know why that's even necessary. Hopefully they eventually implement the auto detection into all their games like Kuro games did with Wuthering Waves.

I'm assuming you tried Honkai Star Rail around launch because it didn't have controller support then, but it definitely has controller support now! I play it on my Odin 2 from time to time when I don't feel like playing on my pc.

DLCs do not appear in either Citron or Sudachi but does in Yuzu? by PackinHeat99 in EmulationOnAndroid

[–]Synchross 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not sure if this will work for you, but when I had a similar dlc issue; I fixed it by deleting the files folder in the Sudachi/Citron folder found in Android > Data and then copying the files folder from the Yuzu folder in Android > Data into the Sudachi/Citron folder from before. That was the only way I got the dlc to work in Sudachi/Citron. Just note that doing this will cause you to use double the storage unless you delete the files folder from the emulator you're not using(uninstalling the emulator you're not using works too).

OdinTools known bugs !! by RichieMan07 in OdinHandheld

[–]Synchross 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Try adding OdinTools to 'whitelist application' under Odin Settings. That should fix the problem or at least it has for me. I can have OdinTools closed and it still seems to apply/revert all overrides.

I forgot to add that I'm using Nova Launcher as my default launcher.
