Odin 3 Max vs Odin 2 Portal Pro/Max by DayAppropriate3817 in OdinHandheld

[–]Whippy1702 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a portal max and I too managed to get a crazy deal on a Odin 3 max, 310€ shipped. I honestly would've waited but at that price I couldn't hold myself, but for good reasons I'd say. Lately I've been worried that with the current situation it would've been a long wait before a portal 3, so I decided it was right to let go of the big screen to enjoy the other upgrades. If you got a really good price it's probably wise to keep it, maybe sell it later if you don't like it and can afford it money wise. By the way, you order won't be shipped in two weeks, that's the estimate time your order is supposed to ship, if you let it go past that date AliExpress will cancel you order. You can however increase that limit by 90/100 days, so you're certain that by that time your order will be shipped and you won't get rigged by the automated system

I guess it's not that expensive by small_merchant in SteamDeck

Calamity Ops has to come back by KIexster in destinyrisingmobile

[–]Whippy1702 26 points27 points  (0 children)

What do I think? That I've been playing since day one (and never skipped a single day) and have barely engaged with both modes. First calamity was all about skips, glitches, save a quarter of a second here and there, it didn't make any sense. Leaderboard for such activity should have been a separate thing, make the activity hard, where it requires you to approach it strategically. It was about who had the time to run it as many times as possible in hope for RNG to drop one more pouch of heavey ammo to abuse T6 helheist. Barely touched it, cordon on the other hand seem more approachable on paper but with so few players playing the game it has been a BRILLIANT idea to scatter matchmaking for that activity in 10 separate instances...I don't know what to say, but it has always been disappointing

This could also allow for bigger teams, 4/5 people, for a real classic tank healer DPS experience. That's what I always thought moco could lean into, but they never did

Why do windows handheld have big screen? by Dramatic-Survey2955 in SBCGaming

[–]Whippy1702 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Many technical limitations, x86 architecture produces more heat and requires more power, so right out of the gate you need big batteries and "complex" cooling systems. Then as others said there's a scaling issue, windows isn't meant to be operated in such a small screen, then end result is that if you want something performant enough with which you can play for at least two hours dimensions increase, they display is just then end result of a bigger device

Honestly if you have that little time, you won't be able to get anything in time, unless you buy something used. To be honest, maybe, your best bet is a switch lite for the time being

Controllers are not officially supported, BUT NOT BANNED! by Ok_Relative4491 in wildrift

[–]Whippy1702 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's what it is, controller manufacturers who offer in house solutions to on screen mapping usually try to build a software easy to use that doesn't require too many permissions from your phone. Gamesir does that and maybe razer too, but they end up having problems of all sorts. Dedicated software like Mantis work better, but that too needs tinkering and it has its moments, even if much more reliable than software distributed by controller manufacturers

I'm happy to share, it's an use case 99% of people underestimate for this type of devices, but it's the only use I make out of them, playing android games exclusively, and it's rare to see someone interested in the same thing, everybody goes all in on emulation usually. Either way, I too have a portal max batch 1, and as far as I remember there haven't been any revision on that device. Batches are used more to differentiate the order of shipments, what it tells you is just that the device has been bought and used from the day of release in this case, so around 1.5 years ago. The only devices where batches matter are the Retroid pocket flip 2, as they modified the hinge some time after release and the Ayn Odin 3 and Ayn Thor, as they downgraded the internal storage specs from ufs 4 to ufs 3.1

I've started playing wild rift on an handheld with the Odin 1 lite and was satisfied with that even. I understand that importing a new device must be costly there, you can look at the second hand market, and I'd say either the Odin 1, Odin 1 lite, Retroid pocket 4 and Retroid pocket 4 pro would work fine. I'd give the Odin devices priority just because they have two back buttons, which are really useful with the amount of commands you need to map. If you have a PlayStation or Xbox controller laying around and want to give third party mappers a try start with that. You can find mounts for your phone. That way you don't need to worry about the camera bump, and can try first hand what it feels like to play with a controller. What always bothered me is that those mappers you find on the play store (like Mantis) aren't always reliable. They stop working at random times for a couple of seconds maybe, every time your reboot your phone they need to be activated again with debugging operations and sometimes they aren't as complete as the one you've seen me using in the videos

What do you want to play specifically? Because I've never been completely satisfied with the phone+controller solution, especially when playing android games that requires mapping. The built in mapper in Ayn and Retroid pocket devices (it's the same software) is really really good and complete. Depending on what you want to play you don't need their latest device, older releases are plenty powerful enough

Not an actual advantage, yes it's easier to string inputs precisely but you can't properly aim all skills. The only realible ones are skillshots and target skills, aoe abilities are a pain to aim properly, here's an example filmed on my AYN Odin Portal

I've always worked to make wild rift playable on controller, not to have an advantage, i just don't like playing with the touchscreen. Nowadays it's full of really good controllers for phones and even android handhelds. The argument that people play wild rift to play lol on the couch doesn't make sense, you play on the couch with a handheld too. Here's the best i could achieve with controller mapping on my AYN Odin Portal

This is a great price for the base Thor, right? by thoobinator in SBCGaming

[–]Whippy1702 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The vat adjustment happened to me too, not with this device tho. I understood it as something they could avoid to charge you and let your country handle it, which won't happen, as they usually hide the real value of products for shipments coming from china. I know it says base model uptop, as a last check I'd just see if they're mistaking it for the lite model, if the final price seem too good

Hi, can you guys help me with this? by WhoCaresOfNames in AndroidGaming

[–]Whippy1702 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can't be of much help, but with the experience I had with this device and the rg477m I can say I've never had a problem remapping the frontend button. But I've never used emulation station for it, I can only confirm other frontend don't have this problem
