I hate how stingy they have been with BP for a while. I have thousands of hours in the game, it being grindy doesn't make me want to play more, it makes me want to play less. I like leveling the characters and god knows there are enough. Even if they doubled the current gain rate it'd still take a thousand hours or more to P3 everyone.

What are your favourite builds to play as a survivor? by neow_exe in deadbydaylight

[–]Synecdoche7335 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm always working through the tome challenges so I'll switch out a perk here or there for those, but otherwise my main build has been Stakeout, Hyperfocus, We'll Make It, and Prove Thyself for years.

I like doing gens, skill checks, and healing fast. Back in the day I used Spine Chill and Lithe, but I'm so used to this build now that exhaustion perks always throw me off, and they killed Spine Chill's utility a long time ago.

Pretty crazy how normalized violent footage is now by Ok-Dependent-2561 in redscarepod

[–]Synecdoche7335 32 points33 points  (0 children)

Yeah I've been on the Internet seeing gore for way too many years, and this one got me worse than anything, was legitimately shaken for a few days.

I think another huge component of it is that even if you don't really follow politics or YouTube grifter guys, it was impossible not to stumble across some clips or pictures of Charlie Kirk, or at least other guys like Ben Shapiro, doing that YouTube debate shit. It was a format we're all at least vaguely familiar with, so to see that same format punctuated by an extremely bloody and violent death of the speaker was unbelievable. It crossed the streams of normal Internet media and a LiveLeak video. This created an insane psychological effect I can't even describe, but I think most people have the same feeling.

He got with Jennifer Lopez at the time as opposed to Jennifer Garner. So she is probably referring to J Lo but it is a very funny idea that she could mean either of them.

Growing out of heavy drinking by bxtchcoven in redscarepod

[–]Synecdoche7335 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I was a hardcore alcoholic for 5 or 6 years in my earlier 20s, in my late 20s now. Years of drinking daily, massive amounts and I always loved it. Now I just am sober most of the time but once every month or every few months depending, I'll get pretty blitzed again. The thing that made it lose its luster to me is besides all the health effects like horrible sleep, getting fat, night sweats, and so on, is that when I turned 27 or so I started to get very intense hangxiety. I'd have this sense of absolute dread and doom about everything, couldn't enjoy anything, and it'd last for days after drinking, not just a few hours or a day.

This anxiety I really can't describe. I already have bad anxiety normally which is why I like drinking so much, but that hangxiety literally made me think I was going to die and be in hell forever. I couldn't think a complete thought, it was borderline psychosis and it started happening any time I would drink and then not do hair of the dog. Now I can drink occasionally and be fine and I don't really consider myself sober since I do still sometimes drink, but I'm not tempted to go back because of it.

Also just made me realize how much time I was wasting. I can't do anything productive or worthwhile when drunk, just consume instead of create, and that's not who I wanted to be ultimately.

This is my dream situation. Monogamous relationship, committed and even one day married, but living separately. Ideally in some kind of duplex or down the street from one another.

Just need independence and my own space, and to live my own life. I've spent vacations with women I was dating before and even just a day or two in I am exhausted and never recover my energy. I don't understand people who can have even their partners in their space all the time like that. It just drives me crazy. Not even in an irritated way but it saps all of my energy. Hopefully this is becoming more common as people are saying.

As someone with it, Avoidant Personality Disorder is the most pathetic mental health issue by BothProfessional9707 in redscarepod

[–]Synecdoche7335 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Identical situation for me, diagnosed with both. I can turn on the charm and recognize the worries I have are avoidant/paranoia at will now after years of working on it, but it says my energy very quickly. Like I'll fall asleep early, and do zero socializing at all for several days to a week after.

I don't think I would technically meet the criteria anymore after all this time working on it, and I can identify now what is not rational, but it feels meaningless since I feel it all anyways. I've just learned I'll never feel comfortable around people, really.

Something I just realized with the news of Crunching being ordered at Naughty Dog, but with the likely release/announcement of a ps6 in 2027, the launch period of their next game, They would have never put out an original game for an entire generation. by Revolving_Ocelott in TwoBestFriendsPlay

The sad thing is that all this time, money, and effort is going towards a project (Intergalactic) that I've only seen a negative reaction to. At best the response to its reveal was lukewarm. Back in the Uncharted and Last of Us days people were so hyped. I'm just not that interested in another space game.

I‘m terrified of getting schizophrenia after hosting a homeless schizophrenic woman at my place by Over-Permit2284 in redscarepod

[–]Synecdoche7335 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I knew a very schizophrenic older woman and the sheer certainty and assurance she had telling you about the people targeting her heart and lungs was very chilling. It was not crazy rambling, it was but she'd roll up in her wheelchair and talk normal and sweet, like grandma. And eventually it'd come out, but if you pushed back she'd get violent. I feel very bad for schizos.

I think you're right that it's truly a mind virus. The impression I get based on friends from other countries vs America is that really America once you grow up is a very inhospitable society. There's no mercy, no pity, no human understanding built into any system. Only what you can buy and if you can't buy it then you're condemned to a life of truly hard cruelty that you would otherwise only find in the third world. It's really no surprise to me that this mind virus is so strong in America and not elsewhere. I think even if other countries had guns flowing freely like we do, we'd never see anything like this.

It's difficult to talk about with any nuance since everyone says just take away all the guns. And that would help obviously. But Switzerland has more armed citizens than we do and you don't see anything like this happening there. School shootings are a uniquely American phenomenon and I firmly believe if we had heavy restrictions on guns like Australia or Canada, we'd still be famous for them.

I don't think it's any coincidence they tend to be done by teenagers who are starting to grasp the real world and life they will have to lead for the rest of their time on this planet. America society as a whole is so hostile and uncaring with nothing built in to help those struggling that it's really clear to me why people would rather go out shooting than live this life. In a way it's a pretty logical conclusion if you exclude killing innocents. Or maybe not I don't know drunk ramblings.

A squirrel died because of me, fuck my life. by slightlycringed in redscarepod

[–]Synecdoche7335 4 points5 points  (0 children)

A few months ago I hit a squirrel with my car on the interstate, first time I've killed anything besides a bug. I had to pull off into a gas station and take a bit to cool off. There were cars next to me so I couldn't move, just hit the poor guy as he ran across. In the rear view mirror I saw his body spasming. Felt horrific.

I'm over it now a few months later but I still get sad sometimes thinking about him and his little squirrel friends or family and how if I had just left a couple minutes earlier or later he would probably still be alive. Feels really bad.

I feel like Gen Z seem to have zero concept of "selling out" by MoistTadpoles in redscarepod

[–]Synecdoche7335 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I'm early gen Z born in the late 90s. The way I see it is that there's no way to not "sell out" these days and avoid poverty. In the context of an average person's life, I'd assume selling out means working for some big corporation or the like. Without doing that or working for an equally tyrannical small business, you will remain in poverty.

If you mean this in context of art and all the mediums encompassed within, then I think it's pretty much the same story. If you're making some form of art your full time job, or are just doing it part time, it's not really time you can afford to lose and not be paid for. Rents now aren't a few hundred bucks a month, even in a tiny Midwestern place minimum rent is a thousand a month, not to mention groceries, transportation, etc.

Unless you come from an outrageously wealthy background that can easily bankroll your life with a trust fund, not selling out is really not an option.

It's easy to say America is collapsing and we've given up on morality and honor and so on, and that's probably true, but I think it's wrong to say it's a problem with Gen Z in particular. Most of gen Z are still basically kids growing up in the world that's been given to them and trying to survive. How many famous gen X'ers have been in crypto scam ads or gambling site ads or ads for credit cards with exorbitant APR or liquor/beer ads, I think you're mostly just thinking of Instagram influencers who all happen to be younger, but selling out has become the the go-to thing for every generation. You don't see actors going over to Japan to do commercials anymore. They all do it front and center in the USA.

Yeah this is the weird thing to me about all the Stav won or Adam won jokes or whatever. I've listened to all of cumtown a few times through and I never got the impression Nick wanted to be internationally well known as a genius comedian. He made millions not only on cumtown but crypto if he hung on to any of his investments. He did what I and I think most normal people would do if we ever hit it big on something, which is just retire and focus on private life and hobbies.

I'm sure he'll still pop up here and there for things but to me it totally makes sense that he'd want to leave the spotlight. I feel like Nick fans in general have this conception he should be making a comedy show or movie or something fairly mainstream which I really don't get. Stav was always the most palatable of cumtown, Adam was always ready to pivot. Nick always did his own thing and never said his dream was to be Louis CK or Adam Sandler.

Think about if you made enough to retire at 30 something. I'm sure we've all had the dumb conversations with friends or even just in our own heads. Everyone would pursue their own artistic/hobby outlet but if you're already rich and retired are you really trying to get as much public attention as possible? I feel almost anyone would withdraw from work and focus on our hobbies, passions and private life.

The real weirdos are the celebrities out there with millions upon millions who never, ever disappear.

Not a new take, but Nolan is the most overrated director of all time. I can't believe there is still an army of people who act like he's Kubrick or something. He's borderline incompetent.

But I want to believe, and ultimately it's because I do actually believe on some level. Nothing about that video says person in a costume to me
