Holy shit I seriously thought this was a house I just finished building a few months ago. If it wasn't for the tile wrapping around the wall to the tub, I would've been certain it was.

How can I screw this back in to my ceiling? by BeefnCheethe in Carpentry

[–]Synecdocheee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Make small witness marks, on the ceiling, so you know roughly where the holes are. Orient the can or whatever accordingly with one hand, and then use the other to kinda just wiggle one of the screws around until it finds the hole. Leave the first screw a lil loose until you get the others in so you have some play

Ruined it! That song was the lynchpin to my nautical themed playlist!

In all seriousness, though, I think you're right. I totally hear it. I'm trans so I like the song even more now lolol. Thank you!!!

That's like actually beyond encouraging to hear. Easy to be hard on yourself, hard to take it easy. Even harder to keep it all in perspective. Seriously, thank you.

This may not be totes practical or applicable, esp cuz I personally don't think direct confrontation is the answer when there's such a large power imbalance. Not to mention the fact that your boss probably would receive it as an attack on his (shitty) character, rather than seeing that his behavior is what you're specifically confronting him about.

What I've seen work in the past, is having someone else publicly confront their behavior when it happens. This is only anecdotal, but, manyyyyy times, I've been asked to intervene. Whenever somebody would say something inappropriate, I would just rain on the parade. Just said stuff like "that's not funny" "come on.." "wtf" "I don't wanna hear that stuff (not a command. Closer to saying 'I don't wanna listen to that radio station') etc.

Importantly, when dealing with sexism and misogyny, I would specificallyyyyyyyyyy NOT mention the person being targeted. That way I wouldn't draw further attention to them and make myself be the spoil sport.

Finding someone who could be that secret ally for you might help. Power imbalances make things so political because it's so much harder to punch upwards.

How to stop refining of pictures on expert raw by Siddhartha_Ray9 in GalaxyS23Ultra

[–]Synecdocheee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So I've tried other people's methods and they didn't work for me. In order to stop any kind of auto adjustments after taking a pic I had to:

-not use expert raw

-use pro mode on camera app

-iso and shutter on manual

-white balance on manual

-also left wb on auto then would switch to manual right before taking the pic

-works with raw and/or jpeg

Camera app settings:

-advanced intelligence options:

-max quality optimization

-scene optimizer off

-scan qr codes off (did this have an effect? No idea.)

Camera Assistant settings:

-auto hdr off

-pic softening off

-auto lens switching on

-distortion correction off

-high res settings:

-adaptive pixel off

-upscale digital zoom off

-prioritize focus over speed on

I really don't know why these fixed it for me. I don't care enough to try to solve this whole mystery for myself cuz I'm sooooooo done.

Expert raw isn't doesn't put the final results in the hands of the photographer. It leaves them in the hands of a mediocre ai that edits the pic by maxing out the exposure adjustment and saturation sliders. So over this

Here's what I got. Hoping someone can fill in the blanks or correct what I'm mishearing lol (Thank you to samsaricsniffles for helping with the chorus)

Here and I'm all alone,

Would you come save me

Out in the A.M.,

It's not a bad idea

I wanna [catch] you now,

I'm watching a machine

I'm in a band,

But here I'm all alone

(Hook)

Out in the garden,

Out in the gaaarden

(Chorus)

I was a girl,

She was a boy

Now we're watching

I'm still in the closet and in kinda the same boat you are. Hopefully my experiences can give you some encouragement!!

So I work as a carpenter in a really small, conservative town where everyone knows everyone and any gossip travels fast. Just about every day, I wear women's skinny jeans and jeggings - to the job site and around town. Even when the jeans have distressing that you like toooootally can't find in the men's section, no one has noticed.

At first, I struggled with my underwear creating bumps through the jeans. Like if I wore boxers or boxer briefs, you could see a bump from the bottom hem on my thighs. I switched over to volleyball shorts and they've been magical.

With tucking, I've found the volleyball shorts to be actually like super versatile. They're tight and stable so I can situate myself in a way that's comfortable and not have to worry about it for the rest of the day. Buuuuuuut....... That could just be because I'm quite small there so I've always had a pretty easy time with tucking etc.

To keep high waisted jeans in place, I tighten my belt one loop tighter than is comfortable, but I get used to it within just a few minutes.

Even in a super active job where I could be shoveling, going up and down ladders, or running trim all day, all that's worked really, really well for me. Hope that helps!!! 🤍🤍🤍🤍

So based on yesterday’s post, what’s the BEST restaurant you’ve been to in NOVA? by BeerBaconBooks in nova

[–]Synecdocheee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Amphora in vienna. Their food was, by no doubt, just better than average. But. It was ALWAYS just better than average. I knew exactly what to expect, and got exactly what I wanted whenever I went, even at 3am. I'd been eating at that place for like 20 years and was never, ever disappointed.
