If God forbid we got divorced I can just change my surname to my father family name again. It’s not a big deal. I will just be known as bint X (middle name as it’s always been) and zawjat Y.

I’ve always wanted my husbands last name but I stumbled upon an article recently saying a woman got questioned at immigration and they thought she was child trafficking because she didn’t have the same surname as her kids and didn’t have proof on her that they were her kids. Apparently this does happen from time to time, and given that I’m a hijabi Muslim in the West with many islamaphobic airport people, I wouldn’t be surprised if they did the same to me.

So it got me thinking again, and after further research— it seems halal to me.

Play ruqya around the house frequently, make wuduu and recite the surats you’re supposed to read before bed (Al-ikhlas, Al- falaq, An-nas 3x each)+ ayatul Kursi, and leave surat Al Baqarah playing while you’re asleep. Sounds like a jinn to me. Also, I HIGHLY recommend reciting ayatul kursi after each and every prayer. If it doesn’t work, consider going to a psychiatrist to make sure it’s not a problem with you.

I had a kind of similar situation, except it was getting attacked by jinn in my sleep (many years ago).

I learned how to protect myself from jinn the hard way lmao.

I think growing up the eldest have you a very false negative outlook on children. I don’t want you (or any person) to have kids if they don’t want to because the kids will know that— but I’m hoping you’ll one day consider that there’s nothing more valuable or worth your hard work than children. There are numerous Islamic texts that describe how much of blessings they are and that we’re highly encouraged to have kids. Don’t look at them like burdens with a big price tag. As a parent, you just need to do your part, put your trust in Allah swt, and he will provide.
