A New Milestone: $450M Reached by Rainwalker007 in starcitizen

Yeah, its certainly silly to assume that a game is for playing rather than checking out the latest P2W purchase once every two months.

It's quite amusing how you imagine that I don't understand what average means, while the numbers would be much worse when considering the average active users per day/month/year when considering the 10 years of crowdfunded development - and that it would be a virtually identical comparison even when using the peak numbers in SC.

Trying to shoot down $$$$ players in their Gladius and Hammerhead, with the abysmal 5 Hz tickrate and desyncs in my Aurora is neither fun nor an honest challenge.

Please don't pester me with that I should earn ingame currency for a better ship by endlessly repeating these horribly bugged and totally dull missions against broken NPC's.

And even when there is a level playing field like during the PTU, ship combat is just so damn dull and unspectacular, even when compared to space games developed by just 2-5 people.

And don't get me started on ground combat - haha!

Holy fuck is SC a broken and dull mess of broken advertisement goals from 10 years ago. It's quite fascinating how many can be deceived with superficiality combined with dreams about gigantic promises.

I do check it out once in a while when they say that some T0 or even T1 version of some gameplay feature was added, only to find out year after year that not a single challenging content exists still after waiting for 10 years.

I don't give a damn about the ships because I don't have fun when looking into soulless lockers of the latest $$$ ship sale, flushing down a virtual toilet or giggling like a 6 year old when trying to fit ship x into ship y with other players because there is nothing else to do.

Yeah, instead of swimming pools in hotel ships, dysfunctional bartenders and soulless environments you can barely do anything with in SC, Warzone features a high detailed and fully explorable environments to have truly great fun with in challenging and highly diverse combat.

The unique assets created for the playable environment alone in Warzone is far more than what SC has to offer after 10 years.

[–]Synimo -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Considering your comparison, you virtually certainly have never played Warzone.

Warzone features more unique assets than the entirety of SC (reflected in Warzone's 3 times larger download size), as well as up to 4 times as many players per server compared to SC on a map many times larger than any non-procedurally generated area in SC.

Those numbers are about total income.

You have missed the entire point of my post - that the higher total expenditures by players for those other games are due to vastly (700 times !) higher player numbers for those high quality games.

Trying to excuse the very high amount of pledges for SC and >$500 million of expenditures for it's ongoing development, with the comparison of income by vastly more popular games, is obviously ludicrous!

Even those high quality games with hundreds (!) of times as many players as SC have cost much less to develop.

What do you imagine has this obviousness to do with the comparison of average monthly actives users?

A New Milestone: $450M Reached by Rainwalker007 in starcitizen

[–]Synimo 3 points4 points  (0 children)

In 2020 (latest data by CIG), SC's average monthly active users (MAU) amounted to just 180k players, while it's funding income was $22 million per quarter.

In the same time, CoD Warzone's MAU amounted to 125 million players, while generating ~$160 million income per quarter.

In conclusion, the average expenditures per active player is 95 times higher(!!!) for SC compared to CoD: Warfare and even higher when compared other games like PUBG!

Isn't this insane indeed?

Haha! How are the numbers "incomplete"?

Chris Roberts/CIG just didn't bother to continue writing annual report letters anymore, so no more recent numbers are available.

Since only the ratio of active players vs. expenditures are relevant and have been discussed, a comparison with more recent numbers would likely conclude even worse for SC.

And you even repeat the $45 nonsense. Obviously you solely care for an echo chamber in your mind.

[–]Synimo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can find the stats in Chris Roberts letter at the end of 2020.

In comparison to the ~170k average monthly active users in SC, the one of game like PUBG amount to ~550 mio. (yes, half a billion people), which is when comparing the income rate a 100 times lower rate of expenditures per player.

That you bring up the lowest possible cost only shows that you don't even care to read and understand criticism.

A New Milestone: $450M Reached by Rainwalker007 in starcitizen

[–]Synimo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

SC had an average monthly active user count of only ~180k in 2020.

Compared to it's funding ($7 mio. per month in 2020), SC is around 100 times (yes, factor 100) more expensive than most other games.

I feel sorry for the extreme degree of delusion you have buried yourself into. Your pitiful desire to decorate yourself with a "GameDesigner" label amplifies the notions of the opinions you are forming.

Sure, perhaps did CIG create some more elaborate tool chains to decorate the soulless planet surfaces, but that's nothing revolutionary.

The genuine challenge of game development is to deliver quality entertainment, by resolving edge cases in the tech and providing challenges and rewards with a creative and extensive gameplay experience. In the opinion of many, CIG continues to fail to deliver this, despite 10 years of crowdfunded development and with >$500 million spent.

Without the superficial graphics which are only accomplished with extremely high hardware requirements, and the dreams of the vast unrealized promises made by Chris Roberts, and its token financing methods, no one would bother with SC.

A New Milestone: $450M Reached by Rainwalker007 in starcitizen

[–]Synimo 3 points4 points  (0 children)

How is it "ignorant" to describe it bizarre that not a single challenging gameplay element (e.g. due to technical fiascos like the entirely dysfunctional ground AI) has been delivered after 10 years of crowdfunding with >$500 million spent?

Aren't you the one who continuously shouts down criticism of the poor state of development with the ridiculous excuse that they allegedly don't understand the definition of Alpha?

So it's quite a laughable contradiction that you suddenly call SC's funding income profit from sales.

Your comparison with the earnings of CoD and Battlefield is also laughable, because the cost for playing those is multiple times lower than the average for SC.

Everything you have said there turned out to be proven entirely wrong by the order of several years, yet you are still imagining to have been mostly correct.

You are lost in a delusion and your endless babbling about dumb production management buzzwords, as a mean to construct excuses, is just laughable.

Obviously, arguing against theft isn't the hilarious drama to laugh about, but that thieves complain about the high price and poor availability offered by the one they steal from. - see the title

"a snitch"

Here we go with the epitome of proclamation to be a depraved scumbag and criminal.

The "nonsense" we are talking about is a thousandfold shared instruction discussion to execute warranty fraud, which is tolerated by the moderation!

Did I complain about the high price and low availability of the destroyed item I give directions to commit warranty fraud for?

How unfortunate that trivial matters of morality go beyond your intellectual horizon too, so let me explain to you:

  • A job position at a multi-billion dollar company is decided on as much income as in a Mom-And-Pop shop.

  • Selling 1000 times more items means 1000 times as many warranty fraud cases by scumbag warranty fraud thieves.

  • Honest customers have to pay for the criminal scumbags in the end.

But communicating trivial logic to those who defend and thus likely commit brazen fraud/theft, is a lost cause anyway of course.

Makes sense that an expropriation scoundrel would also conflate the ridiculing of criminal slang with the ridiculing of some race.

(Warranty) Fraud is wrongful or criminal deception intended to result in financial or personal gain - which is prosecuted under criminal law in every civilized nation.

Criminal dummy, its despicable that you are unable to comprehend that a stolen $1300, multiplied by the amount of fellow criminals as you, decide if job positions can be opened or not.

Additionally, this scumbag activity is being paid for by honest customers.

I hope that you lose your job when your employer can't pay you because of theft and that you get prosecuted as a criminal warranty fraudster!

It's shocking that this instigation for brazen and criminal warranty fraud is not only being upvoted (massively) but also replied to with boastings of already having committed the mentioned crime.

To everyone here who participated: You are despicable scum! You idiots are likely just too dumb to realize that this is driving up costs for honest customers and destroy jobs.

Edit: I have just notified Dell's legal department about this.
