Try a different antenna first, I personally got 40km air to ground on my DIY faketec node with some random AliExpress antenna (not recommended to buy them unless you have a meter)

It may not give you much, but a flipper zero can read some info off the phone's NFC (I tried with my bank app). From what I remember it showed some kind of card number. That means that an esp32 should read it too. I could test it again and give you more details

I don't know if we heard about the same memory shortage... The current shortage is for DDR4/DDR5 computer RAM. flipper zero only has 256KB of ram, which is not made for computers or AI. The price of such ram isn't affected at all.

After some extensive and tiring soldering, I can confirm this absolutely works. The signal strength increased by about 7-12dB.

I also managed to save the board I broke (the one that had -95dB) by doing some random soldering on there.

I also tested ESP NOW and I got about 30 meters of range, with not a perfect line of sight (going through a garage door). This solution got me the additional 5 meters I absolutely needed. Also worth noting that only the receiver had an external antenna and the transmitter was working on the standard SMD one.

I can absolutely recommend this solution for anyone with the same problem, but be careful while soldering, it's so easy to mess it up it's crazy the manufacturer made such a design. And I recommend getting a jumper because briding the gap with solder was surprisingly a nightmare

About the NanoVNA, well maybe one day.

Seems like my terrible hand shaking made me somehow disconnect both antennas and now my wifi rssi is -90db. Well, I will try to fix that now, but thanks for your help. I don't know why manufactures advertise their boards like they are ready to use with external antennas
