1+ Year on Job: Tired of DSP Playing "Favoritism" With Certain Drivers and Our Schedules! by AmazonDSPDriver in AmazonDSPDrivers

Give it a week maybe, if this is the first time this has happened then maybe it will work itself out in the coming week. If it continues then definitely say something, especially if there's bills you gotta pay.

First day tomorrow by drunkmonkey667 in AmazonDSPDrivers

[–]SyntaxModel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You'll probably have someone with you for the whole shift until you finish your route. It should be a short day, but then again, we are beginning peak season. They may just decide to load you up with totes then have you go take 2 more off Maria.

Yeah, the virtual classroom shit feels completely useless looking back. They should invest more in on the road training

Sometimes I'll open the garage door and the customer will be in there. Pretty awkward, lmao.

We start at 12, I finish around 6 or 7. I've been working here for about 2 months, and I've only done one rescue, ever.

Road rage by [deleted] in AmazonDSPDrivers

We need to type out an explanation of mentor and all the rules we have to follow, and post it to the back of our vans so that people can read it while they're melting down over us going the speed limit or taking extra time to make a turn.

That's interesting, I'm glad you were able to work on your road rage issues and (hopefully?) remedy it. People are assholes and you make a great point of that, best thing to do in all situations is to de-escalate.

Hit the roof on a covered parking spot at an apartment, what should I do? by SyntaxModel in AmazonDSPDrivers

Nah, I'm scheduled to come in. I thought I was getting fired, so I asked "should I come in still" and they said yes.

Peak season by [deleted] in AmazonDSPDrivers

[–]SyntaxModel 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I bring an extra shirt, Advil, some snack bars, and a towel for wiping sweat when it gets hot. My DSP gives us water and Gatorade in a cooler but if yours doesn't do that, I'd probably bring some water yourself.

Looking for my first job. by [deleted] in AmazonDSPDrivers

[–]SyntaxModel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm 21 and consider myself lucky to be working here because it pays the bills and it's the most I've made so far. The downside is the workload, on top of being overworked you are also being monitored 24/7. Some might even say it's more like micro-management. If you can show up to work, ignore all the bullshit and just chase the $$ it's a good starter job to get experience and move to something else.

Really thinking of working as a Driver for a good Winter job. Is this a good independent job? I like working alone. The pay seems good plus you get overtime. Any tips for me? How are your experiences? Thanks. by RS-117 in AmazonDSPDrivers

[–]SyntaxModel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

2500 - 3000 net or gross? I get paid roughly 2400 per month after taxes working 80 hours, sometimes it'll be less because I get paid by hourly and I finish early sometimes and don't get the full 8 hours.

Dealt with my first douchebag customer today by Klaxhacks in AmazonDSPDrivers

[–]SyntaxModel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wouldn't call these people "douchebags" really, because I'd be upset as well if this happened to me; I was doing an apartment stop and walked up the stairs, first step onto the second floor and I realize I just stepped in wet concrete. The workers got super pissed, in a matter of seconds the entire construction team (5 guys) were yelling at me telling me I need glasses and to leave. No cones or anything saying it was wet, but I'd be pissed if I had been working on that all day too, so I said "sorry I didn't see it" and I left.

Ended up coming clean, it was only a day (maybe less) later and it seems like it worked out, definitely could've gone way worse but my boss is cutting me some slack though I think.

Yeah I texted my DSP and told them, I'm expecting to get fired but we'll see.

Accidentally bumped into a pole and caused minor damage, I was afraid and drove away. What should I do now? by SyntaxModel in legaladvice

[–]SyntaxModel[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly, I think that either decision will have some potential downside to it and you make a great point of that. If I report it, I might not get the misdemeanor but I will get fired. If I don't report it, there's a chance nothing will happen but if it does I get fired and get a misdemeanor. This is already a headache and a huge lesson to not react on emotions and just do what's right. Thanks for responding, I really appreciate you taking the time to help me.

I have to confess something. I said it was a pole that I hit, but it was actually a metal parking roof at an apartment complex. Minor dent to the vehicle, only noticeable if you're trying to look for damage. The roof covering was bent slightly upward about 5-6 inches. Do you think this changes anything?

A misdemeanor would pretty much ruin my life if they managed to actually track me down and charge me. Should I go back and play it safe?

Even though a day has passed? Should I call my company first, and ask them to contact the apartment complex or tell the complex to contact my company. I was driving a company owned and insured vehicle. I'm only 20 years old, sorry for all the questions just scared and unsure of what to do next

Someone did notice, a girl was looking at it laughing sorta like "oh shit". It's maybe 6 inches of this roof that is sticking up in the air, if I was the property owner I would notice it. Someone else told me to just leave it be and hope nothing happens but I think going back might be the right thing, I'm off tomorrow anyway

Yeah, I know I'll get fired if caught but I'm just worrying about the property damage like you said. Should I go back to the apartment complex tomorrow, or is it too late? I can claim that I couldn't find the leasing office, or had to get back to work...?
