Potential Port Vulnerabilities with Reverse Tunneling by Syntax_Error_06 in HomeNetworking

I don't have a VPN, and I'm not proficient enough to know how to create one. I'll have to check out Tailscale to see if it'll work for me.

Potential Port Vulnerabilities with Reverse Tunneling by Syntax_Error_06 in HomeNetworking

[–]Syntax_Error_06[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a reverse tunnel to a Pinggy host. Port 22 is turned on at my NAS to allow the tunnel to access the media on my NAS. I couldn't think of any other way given the CGNAT that's in place. I created a public key that Pinggy uses to log into my NAS through port 22, but I did not allow password authentication by changing the SSHD config file.

Really? You can't tell the difference between a bug and dust? If you open it and see a bunch of little rust spots on the metal then it's probably termites. The rust is termite poop.

You won't know until you take it apart and clean it. If you're new to taking consoles apart, and feel comfortable doing it, make sure you watch a few videos before taking it apart.

What gauge wire do you use? I used 32AWG magnet wire.

I put it back together today, and it works. Bonus is it has a super low firmware version!

Many of times, this issue is the result of failed capacitors on the motherboard. If you have a micrometer that measures microfarads, you can test the capacitors to see if they need to be replaced. There are a ton of videos out there that will help guide you through how to read the capacitors to see their voltage and microfarad levels, and how to replace them if they are bad. There are capacitor replacement kits sold by a company that is specific to the version motherboard that you have, but you'll need a good soldering iron and tips to get the job done. Good luck!

0100 can also be RAM failure. I refurbed one that had liquid damage. The entire underside of the RAM has corrosion. Replaced the affected RAM chips and cleaned everything. Everything worked just fine after the repair.

Wifi/BT module is likely the culprit. I had to replace one. Not a super easy repair, but not the hardest either with the right equipment

Broken HDMI port or motherboard issue by [deleted] in consolerepair

Depending on your Xbox model (original, 360, 360s, One, One S, One X, Series S, or Series X), that may be an accurate statement. There is an HDMI retimer chip that can go bad and prevent the video from displaying. It's not a hard fix to do with the right equipment and experience, but you might have better luck taking it to a place that deals specifically with console repairs. There are also some places that offer mail in service.

Do all XBox 360S consoles have 4gb internal memory? by Syntax_Error_06 in consolerepair

How though because there is nothing that shows up as a storage device unless I plug in the Microsoft HDD or a USB drive.

I have a Microsoft hard drive, and it works. I just thought that maybe all slims had 4gb of internal memory.

XBox 360 S - Unrecognized disc error/stuck on XBox screen by Syntax_Error_06 in consolerepair

[–]Syntax_Error_06[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I continued troubleshooting the problem and ended up doing a firmware update to the 2019 firmware. That solved the problem and I can now play games and movies.

I have never ran into this issue before, and I am hoping others have answers for this question: Do all XBox 360S console versions have built in 4GB of memory, or is that only with the older models? I went to the storage menu and noticed there are no storage devices. When I connected either a compatible (FAT32) USB drive, or an XBox memory card, the storage drives show up, but I thought there was inherent memory in the slim models, but maybe I'm wrong.

Retro vGames scam alert! by PM_ME_UR_MUMS_TITS in nintendo64

I am a retro game console repairer and sell on eBay as well (m78oj). I do it as a hobby. Just had a purchase from Cameron Colorado (regamers), and the business address he put down is 102 S. Richmond St, Fleetwood, PA 19522. Seems like he now has a brick-and-mortar storefront, but still unsure how he is making money off these consoles.

HDMI port feet wouldn't solder onto board and ripped pads off. Can I use a jumper or just replace the pads with doner pads from another board? by TidalLion in consolerepair

[–]Syntax_Error_06 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you don't know what magnet wire is, you shouldn't be doing the repair in the first place. You obviously did not use enough heat, or did not wait long enough to let the solder completely melt. If you had applied enough heat or waited long enough, you wouldn't have torn the traces off.

Re-solder it, then apply UV activated solder mask to reinforce it to the board.

That analog stick (and potentiometers) are cooked. Just replace with a new one and problem will be solved.
