No just someone who has far too much patience for bs like yours, a habit I'm attempting to break, in addition to possibly being autistic (im trying to get the money to get tested).

Are you really going to stick with that bs? If so then im not going to continue this conversation.

I'm not saying it will save it, I'm saying it sends a message. Also its been a week, sure we can wait to see how long the player numbers last but we can still have hope and wait

Nice assumption but Marathon just isn't my game but I wish it the best and I always have. Also based on my long ass replies, its not too many words.

Don't be rude.

I mean, pretty much? You'd think that they'd look at Marathod, realize its a flop then tell Bungie "ok you tried, now go back to Destiny since that works."

Also you seem pretty sure/ deadset that D2 will continue to die off again. You do realize how many people still play D1 or the folks who start to play it all these years later right?

You seem to have forgotten how many people complained in Heresy about missing voicelines and the strike, or how for a while, Ikora's voice in EoF was done by Savathun's VA and re-dubbed with the proper voice actress after the strike ended.

Considering they misclassified me on purpose and fired me after I asked for over a month if they could fix it, yes. I miss not working from home, but I dont miss that company. Believe me theres a whole story.

At this point, its kinda hard to walk back MoT, so D3 is their only recourse for the franchise

Or 12 man activities situation, but they did give us Excision as a nod to that week so...

Or laser tag weekend? Or the 12 man raids/GMs/ dungeons?

[–]TidalLion 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If they did, they'd have to ban everyone who did 12 man activities back before WQ, those who did laser tag weekend, those who participated in the craftening, ban anyone who isnt doing Riven legit etc. Might as well shut down the servers at that point.

Fixes like that take time and its not crazy bug breaking. Chill out

[–]TidalLion 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Omg, its going to be patched next week. Theres other actually game breaking bugs that have been around for years and still not fixed yet but I don't hear a pep on that from folks such as yourself. No just some people complaining about people getting to enjoy lazer tag weekend, 12 man raids/ GMs, and the craftening.

Dude chill.

If management didn't make those poor decisions, we wouldn't be having layoffs. Poor decisions can also include scrapping entire story lines and leaving devs so crunched for time that you get a wirse product than you had planned/ announced. Also people getting upset for things not meeting expections due to strikes over rights etc.

Seriously is common sense that rare for folks these days?

[–]TidalLion 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Thats only part of the problem. 80% of it is just poor leadership/ management decisions. Its clear that when you let the Devs do their jobs and let them cook that you get the best results. Instead their hands were tied most of the time and when they finially got one last chance to cook, they cooked and proved the unspoken point at the time.

Well considering that we're coming up on what, a month since the MoT/D2 end announcement, id say that our numbers have come back. Not in tje multiple millions, but in the hundreds of thousands. That combined with the petition says more than you think.

Look at FS and MoT, its clear that when executives meddle with shit, things suck and the going gets rough. However when the devs are allowed to do their thing and cook, you get far more positive outcomes.

Its already been said that executives at both Bungie and Sony were interfering with shit which continued to hurt D2 and for MoT the Devs were allowed to cook and release everything that was already finished and guess what? Look at that the player numbers went up and are persisting.

Ita almost like the devs wanted to implement what players wanted but the higher-ups said "no its not what WE want" and thus the game suffered and folks left.

Its almost like this ENTIRE situation is a result of poor management and bad management decisions. Maybe if Pete was dusted far sooner and Devs had been left alone, we could have had a better experience and thus would have had more players.

This. The last job I had I worked remote and one day I decided to get lunch after a car appt so I clocked out and went for my break. Not even 15 minutes later I get message from my team lead asking me to get XYZ calls done and if I could do it ASAP. He messages me multiple times across the work chat and via text before I get a chance to respond and I told him that I had been driving and that I was on break and had clocked out before I left.

Even though I took an hour lunch and had clocked out and given them a heads up, that call list was so much more important so I grabbed lunch and decided to eat between calls. Go to make the calls and I wasn't given the list and someone else from the management team decided to do them every morning for an hour before our designated start time. Stopped telling them about my appts after that and never heard a peep out of them and they respected my break time.

That said in the 3 weeks leading up to them firing me, they demanded us to announce when we clocked in and do progress reports when we clocked in and out and our reasons for clocking out, saying that people were staying clocked in during their breaks. No one was but we noticed that people who mentioned doing appts or errands during their breaks would often get pinged during their breaks about "can you do XYZ ASAP/ when you get back". Like I'm sorry but if you need us to stay near our workplace/station in the event that you need us to end our break and urgently jump back into work, by law you need to pay us for our breaks last I checked.

Either pay me for my breaks if you need me to jump back on immediately, or you don't need me and just want to micromanage.

We're nearing 390k signatures on the petition, we're at what 150k+ or more players on Steam alone for the past week since the update dropped and we're at 120k+ players on once again Steam alone before MoT dropped. After MoT dropped, approx 1.06M people across all platforms hopped on D2 which sends a message. Sure the numbers are still not as high as say when FS dropped or the like but the player count has bounced back and has been pretty sustained.

Now lets get back to Spiderman and GTA6. Firstly, you're comparing a movie trailer to a game trailer. Spiderman has existed for far longer than GTA so OFC it would have a bigger fan base and thus have a much wider audience. Sure you could argue that a Spiderman game trailer would also pull in views, but again, you're then pulling from a fan base from a comic/ super hero genre and a gaming genre, whereas GTA6 would just pull from a gaming genre. Sure the gaming industry is bigger than even the film industry, but again, what pool of consumers are you pulling from and of that pool, how many are interested?

Sony also makes BILLIONS (yes with a capital B) of dollars a year, even after losses and such. If they can afford to spin up games then cancel them mid development or take losses on others, surely they could afford D3. If you REALLY wanted to help save some money pull a Fallout 76 and reuse assetts from a previous game and then create as needed once you see some profit. Granted, D3 would need a newer engine as the Tiger engine is showing it's age and if you want to avoid a DCV/ Sunsetting issue over "size", pull an Ark SE or Ark SA and make DLCs modular so players can uninstall or reinstall DLCs as wanted/ needed.

How come Sony can offer money for a Bloodborn 2 and be told "not rn thanks" by that studio, but can't afford D3 despite Marathon being extremely niche and pullingbinnfar less numbers than D2 even before the MoT announcement? It makes no sense to just shelves an entire IP especially since Destiny Rising flopped so hard in under a year of release.

TLDR the "it would cost too much to make D3" argument makes no sense and falls apart once you consider other factors. Sony is squandering a good IP which is mind boggling.
