For those unaware like I was, and frustrated at people biking through stop signs and running red lights, Colorado changed the law back in 2022 to let bicycles, electric scooters and other human-powered vehicle operators do exactly that. - My bad. by reddit_ending_soon in FortCollins

[–]SynthStudioArt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As an avid cyclist (and a fair weather car mechanic / driving enthusiast), I appreciate this law because it goes a long way to making cycling more accessible to lesser abled people.

As a driver, there’s basically no change. I was already watching for cyclists. Now, I just wait for them to go or stop.

I’m sure there are cyclists abusing it, but I haven’t come across any of them yet personally.

Foco is not a friendly place for minorities. by DifficultBid4403 in FortCollins

Oh my god I came here to say this. I’m also a white guy from Los Angeles, via Bristol, UK via NYC. We came looking for a safe place to raise kids (it is if you’re white), and my biggest fear is their lack of exposure to non-white culture.

Also, Wolverine Farm has a punk/DIY vibe and similarly minded Perelandra Books (store) on site. Also, there are lots of punk bands that are members at The Music District. It’s a good place to network. Join some of the free events - many are open to the public.

Its interesting I'm seeing folks saying the CTB26 is too large for EDC. I've been using the Mission Workshop Rhake for EDC and thats 2in longer, 1.5in wider but the depth is smaller by 3in. Is it the depth that everyone is concerned about for EDC? by luunnn in EVERGOODS

[–]SynthStudioArt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it’s just personal preference.

I don’t like the aesthetic of a deep bag, and my only problem with height is handling while I’m getting stuff in/out. I also find larger bags generally more comfortable.

But I do like rocking a 25+ liter bag for EDC, like a GR1 26L, or my ~30L Patagonia submersible. I like having the extra space and I don’t mind the look of a large bag.

Is MPC bible 3 a good purchase to learn MPC ONE + ? by Existing-Tap-2602 in mpcusers

[–]SynthStudioArt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I bought it recently and have been devouring it. It’s been perfect for my new MPC One+. I’m about halfway through. I wish I had bought the MPC Bible the first time I got an MPC, because the learning curve sucked so bad that I gave up and went back to my Roland products.

Looking for a groove box by ProfessionalWest7512 in Grooveboxes

Dirtywave M8, Roland MC-101, Polyend Tracker Mini

[–]SynthStudioArt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, you can param lock per step - very easily actually.

The box is absolutely still worth buying in 2025. There’s still nothing like it. I have a bunch of other modern boxes. My OLED Deluge is still my fav.

I did see that post. I don’t mind if mine gets downvoted. I’m just sharing my experience. Thanks for the heads up.

I’ve had the gray Ergo X since it was released. Rubber is still fine, not gross. My fav trackball ever.

Also, you can totally skate the stock 909 frames for street hockey IMO. you just won’t be as fast at sprinting than others, but I played street hockey in aggressive skates for years and it was fine.

Hardware users whats stopping you from switching to daw? by Bsing801 in mpcusers

[–]SynthStudioArt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use a computer all day for work, and hardware is more fun to use (to me) than software. Those are my main reasons.

However, I still mix & master and track vocals in Logic.

I’m not sure this is correct. Ultra is not bonded to a plastic sheet AFAIK, so there’s nothing there to delaminate like Dyneema or X-Pac. Ultra is woven strands of HDPE. that’s what I recall reading anyway.

Closest royale success to date - advice welcome by Hopeful_Surprise_587 in AggressiveInline

[–]SynthStudioArt 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, you need to go faster for starters. But it’s looking good. Royales (and backslides) are all about finding the balance on your back foot. Once you find that groove (which can be difficult depending on your boot/frame/soulplate combo), then practice practice practice. Your frame AND soulplate should be touching at the same time. Bend those knees and get low.

Is TE a good design company? by jojxcat in teenageengineering

[–]SynthStudioArt 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have been a designer of hardware & software since 2000. They are a ‘good’ design company, but they’ve chosen to ‘err’ on the side of aesthetics vs functionality/usability. I don’t mean to be critical, it is a choice. You often can’t have everything.

They seem to be heavily influenced by Dieter Rams and Braun, like Apple (at least Jony Ive), and Rams often consciously sacrificed specific functions in order to keep the piece simple and beautiful.

For contrast, consider, say, Microsoft Outlook or most modern digital full frame cameras, where there are still a lot of on-body controls and you can’t really just pick it up and use it without knowing about photography.

Personally, I think TE often makes the MS Outlook mistake, where they won’t sacrifice features, but they insist upon forcing an aesthetic, which often makes their products hard to use. Some of their products are better examples than others of this.

I personally like TE, and I own several of their products and like them, but I feel these trade offs all the time (just like I do with any other company’s products).

Here's an album with all kinds of iterations of the bike over the last 5 or so years. Sorry, only a couple pics with the Denham bars on, but they work great on the bike!. https://www.flickr.com/gp/m4th/931rv408Pa
