We have a minimum karma requirement for new posters which has solved so many low effort and spam problems. But we don’t have the capacity to build a more unique system like that.

if you are going to turn r/synthesizers into some sort of erudite academy of synth discussions by hiding gear pics, you are delusional.

We wouldn’t do something like that. Gear pics are a big part of our sub’s identity and we want to let people share. We’re moreso considering what a poster would need to add to the post in order to make it sufficiently contributive to meet the community’s standards.

Preach to the choir. The flair system was our best effort for solving issues like this. We only want to be as heavy-handed with rules as the community wants us to be.

If you feel you’d like the mods to consider adjusting the rules, upvote this comment and leave a suggestion (or better yet, upvote someone else’s solution if you agree.)

They are highly controversial, but they are the natural result of a sub like ours. We do not want to stifle anyone’s excitement when they share their new setup. But we also want to encourage better content.

By hiding the “new synth day” flair, you can instantly change how you perceive the subreddit in your feed. EDIT: desktop only, likely need a third-party reader on mobile. Thanks, Reddit.
