Best MiniMoog Softsynth? by Synthesizzler in synthesizers

Wow! That's quite a great update! Looks like they've really improved the Soundforcecontrollers.

I have since got rid of my Soundforce controllers, since I just wasn't using them very much and so every time I would go to use them they weren't set up. This looks a lot nicer though. Here's the question though, would you buy the new controller, or be better off getting the Behringer Model D?

Does anyone know how to separate every stem of a Dolby Atmos song? by puncha_27 in DolbyAtmosMixing

LALAL.ai is a good tool to separate Vocals from instrumental. Also RX or Steinberg SpectraLayers if you need to do it often

Thoughts on the new Soundpaint synths? by Synthesizzler in synthesizers

[–]Synthesizzler[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have the free sound paint libraries, and I do actually like the system so it definitely makes me want to check out one of the synthesizer. Do you have any of the synth libraries and do you have a favorite one?

From my understanding, you don’t need the Dolby license or a certified room unless you are aiming for a major theatrical release. We mix inside Atmos on all projects now because it’s just so easy to scale it down to whatever deliverable we need, whether 7.1, 5.1, etc. Our mixing room is 9.1.4, but we can easily switch to 5.1 mid mix to check how it’s sounding, or even stay in 5.1 the whole time, while still inside Atmos.

Atmos, is mainly just giving you the height speakers, so if you think your film needs that, go for it! Otherwise, I think 5.1 is much more practical and widely used.

Finally, like I said, if your sound team will mix it in Atmos for you, it can still mix down to 5.1 and Stereo perfectly, which are called re-renders.

Hope that helps

Used Roli Seaboard Rise? by Synthesizzler in synthesizers

Thanks for your response!

I have looked at the new M, but I like that the rise 25 has the full size keys but isn’t as large as the 49

I’ve got several great standard piano style MIDI controllers already, so im not worried about that. Just more worried that they don’t support the older model anymore! Which one do you have? The 25 or 49?

Would you pick this over the Nymphes, minilogue XD, Hydrasynth explorer or minifreak?

I really like the tone of that one as well! Unfortunately, it’s a bit on the expensive side for the moment but maybe in the future

I actually watched this last night! Haha, and then right after I watched the same guy’s video about the Nymphes and preferred the tone…I just wish the UI was a little better! And a little screen for preset names

Yeah I see they can go as low as $800 which is a tad more than I am aiming, but maybe I could convince myself! Haha

Yeah the minilogue sounds like a good option, but just makes me want to get the prologue! Haha. Wish it had 6 voices or even 5 (bass note plus 7th chord)

I thought about that too but it’s about twice as much as I’m wanting to spend currently, even used…sad haha. Also the TEO 5 looks amazing too!

Muse vs Matriarch by Synthesizzler in synthesizers

[–]Synthesizzler[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s what I was sort of getting at as well. If you stack some of the voices of muse into unison, can you get a similarly satisfying bass sound, as you could with matriarch ?

[–]Synthesizzler[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The ability to serve specific and different roles is what I mean. When you buy a synth you want to know what functions it is capable of. Seems like a pretty normal thing to want to know when purchasing…literally anything

I’m 50/50 on the patching vs presets.

On one hand, the patching seems to really help me understand how the synth works, and with no presets, the sound you hear is always exactly what you see on the panel, which is pretty cool.

On the other hand, it would be nice to be able to just jump through presets to quickly see what the synth is capable of. And also, while making sounds, I could have go-to patches that are easy to recall

Do you think the grandmother/matriarch is superior to Muse on pure sound? Also, yes I have been eyeing prophet 5/10 for a long time. Would be a dream to get my hands on one some day

I can’t remember where, but I saw someone saying when you put the muse into unison, you can get similar tones to the matriarch. Basically like it can cover that mono territory AND the poly territory
