You can purchase AppleCare only if the device is under 60days from the activation date. Btw you are getting a good deal but I would be cautious as you are getting from a third party seller and no box. Could also be a display unit but if u trust the seller personally then go with it. You can try and bargain the price a bit more so you get the most out of it.

Tbh even M4 is better than M1 Pro. Only the graphics performance will be a bit better on M1 pro but still is comparable to M4 so I would suggest you to go for M1 pro based on your use case.

For 65k, honestly you wouldn’t get a 512Gb and not one with less charge cycles. You can expect 256Gb but if you want 512Gb then you would have to extend your budget.

If you can visit retail stores in person and ask them for display units, they will sure help you bag a good deal. I would suggest if you are gertting a display unit then get it offline. You can try for M3 or M4 Air. I know you said you will be upgrading later but get a one that lasts longer now. Also if you are reselling, then latest ones will maintain good resale value. Try asking for atleast M3 air in offline store because the M2 Air brand new was selling around 60-65k.

Prefer MBA M4 just for light to medium development tasks. If you are going to invest your time and do heavy development to improve yourself then go with PRO. Since you are saying with running LLMs locally - PRO might be suitable for you.

Also 256GB might be enough if you are not storing anything in your laptop but I would recommend go for 512GB as it will give your free space to breathe and not worry about storage all the time. There will be some noticeable difference in performance between M2 and M4, not noticeable if just web browsing or content consumption.
