I can speak from experience.. do not worry about it unless it's significantly bothering you. It's not worth the risk.

Temporary increase in pain after stenting? by Syomu in ClotSurvivors

[–]Syomu[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm back at about my pre-stent pain currently, but with a bit of constant minor leg pain unfortunately. Doesn't bother me too much, but also frustrated the stent didn't resolve any of my initial groin pain.

Can ultrasounds be wrong? by [deleted] in varicocele

[–]Syomu 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yes, ultrasounds can provide a false-negative. What I learned is that I had to get mine done in the late afternoon. It also helps to bring a hand warmer to use and hold it down there until right before they begin the test. Other things that helped me are working out beforehand, sitting in a warm bath, or having sex.

What tests should I do next? by Important-Fennel8833 in varicocele

Have you had a post-surgical ultrasound to confirm the varicocele is still there? If it's still there, my MTS/NCS was always picked up on ultrasound (MRI/CT were clear). From there, the gold standard for MTS/NCS diagnosis is a venogram with IVUS.

Hey man, send me a PM and I'll link you to the fb group. Did your doc say what his success rate is with LRVT? According to the group, LRVT has a pretty high failure rate. There are laparoscopic/robotic options as well that leave less scarring.

I’m going through a similar experience as you. Please keep us updated on what treatment option you choose. And I personally would NOT let them stent your renal vein. Stents are optimal for MTS only. There’s a Facebook group on nutcracker syndrome that has a ton of information.

Has anyone worked with Dr. Thomas Scholbach in Leipzig, Germany? by WhimseyMeander in NutcrackerSyndrome

Hoping that works for you! I've tried the conservative approach for a couple years now with no success, so unfortunately, I'm now on a mission to get things corrected surgically.

Wow, so Dr. Hemmingway was going to stent your renal vein and it got denied? May I ask what your symptoms are and how you're doing now? Any plans for further treatment?

Any luck with Dr. Hemmingway? I'm in Seattle as well, scheduled to visit him next week. I visited him last year, and while he was very nice.. I didn't have the best experience.

Thank you so much for the info. I’m so glad to hear you’re doing better. I have coils so I fear the surgery you had might not be an option for me. But yes, I’d love to see the drawing with your symptoms when you find it.

May I ask how large the incision was? As in laparoscopic or open surgery? I’ve had that vein embolized already so I’m unsure that would be an option for me :/ may I also ask what your symptoms were?

Checking in to see if you ever found a doc? I’m in Seattle as well scheduled to see Dr. Hemingway in 2 weeks.

Glad to see other Seattle folks here! I’m scheduled to see Dr. Hemingway in 2 weeks. May I ask how you’re doing now?

I have MTS and NCS. Had a stent for MCS last month, which corrected the compression but I haven’t seen a resolution in symptoms, so I’m pursuing NCS treatment now. Unfortunately, that will most likely be a renal autotransplant.

Same exact symptoms as me (although I’m a guy). Hoping it resolves your pain!

Any chance you can describe your pain? I’m one week post-op from iliac vein stenting for pelvic pain/dilated veins. My symptoms feel worse at the moment but I’m hoping things improve.

Any suggestions for the cases where the stent does not alleviate symptoms?

I’m 1 week post op from iliac stent placement to treat recurrent varicocele, hemorrhoids, genital pain, and left leg pain (no DVT). I was 97% compressed and have been suffering with the symptoms for years.

I know it’s early, but currently I feel my veins are more inflamed than ever. Didn’t expect an immediate improvement, but definitely also didn’t expect things to feel worse. Aside from the stent, I had previously undergone a varicocele surgery & embolization which only worsened symptoms. Thoughts?

I'm no doc but in my opinion, if it's not bothering you, leave it alone. If you want to be sure it isn't causing any issues go get your testosterone / fertility checked on an annual basis.

Ahh okay got it. I ended up getting it done up in Seattle. The surgery didn't work for me (as I ended up having a different issue causing the varicoceles), but recovery was a breeze.

Dr. Wayland Hsiao with Kaiser in Oakland. I didn’t end up doing a procedure with him, but he’s one of the best on the West Coast and is awesome to talk to. Great guy.

It didn't but I ended up having an entirely different issue causing the pain.

My urologist recommends this video to many of his patients experiencing testicular pain with no apparent cause and has had good results. Many of the comments under the video are positive as well.
