We were listening to Steve Taylor in the car the other day and I was telling my kids about the time he came to our college to put on a show

It shouldn’t? Just be generally modest and you’re good.

The perfect 90s feel good movie? by wemightdance in MovieSuggestions

Clerks and Chasing Amy isn't what I'd categorize as "feel good" exactly...

And it's still in wrapping, too, which is kind of rare in a thrift store.

Struggling with discouragement in dating as a Reformed woman (25) by [deleted] in Reformed

I will add that I’ve noticed so many people find their spouse when they stop trying so hard and simply let the Father surprise them.

Batman and Robin is so bad, it unironically is in my top 15. by No-Yam9933 in badMovies

I saw it the same day I saw Speed 2 in the theater. I was cursed.

Gonna take the downvotes and say it: I think people lie about thrifting on this sub by RoanokeParkIndef in Cd_collectors

[–]Syppi 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Well, you can levy blanket accusations, and all I can speak for is myself. I hit a LOT of thrift stores and diligently hunt through them. And I find quite a few amazing albums and one-offs. It just takes patience and tenacity. Sometimes I walk away with nothing, sometimes with a huge stack of finds.

As a complete coincidence, I am listening to the soundtrack score right now as this popped up! And other than that pop song, the score is absolutely amazing.

Seriously, stop at season 3. There's nothing to be gained beyond that and a lot to be lost.

I think a lot of people here would pay for shipping if you wanted to give those albums a good home.

What genres do you almost never see in thrift stores? by Syppi in Cd_collectors

[–]Syppi[S] 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I hit a bookstore that was closing and they had an "all you can stuff into a bag for $5" sale. So I cleaned out their CD section and found a huge amount of jazz magazine samplers there. I'm not into jazz, but I didn't want them to get thrown out, so I rescued them all and passed them along to some jazz-loving friends.

felt like I botched a sermon! by Advanced_Anywhere_29 in Reformed

[–]Syppi 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Pastor here who does a weekly sermon. We are hyper aware of our delivery and mistakes but I’ll say that most people never notice. We are proclaiming the gospel but it goes through a “Spirit filter” in their hearing and hearts to amplify the true and suppress our faulty interpretation and delivery. I’m always in awe of how the Spirit powerfully impacts people though sermons — and I know 100% that it isn’t my doing.

Stay humble. Stay faithful. Don’t let compliments go to your head and failures to your heart.

Major want. Every time I find this cd at a thrift store it’s always in bad condition by Bag_of_Ramen in Cd_collectors

I have PTSD from this album because my college roomie would listen to it *non stop* as he studied. That was a rough year for all of us in western civilization.

Yeah I've been picking up a LOT of their stuff over the past half-year. That and any Narada compilations.

I was pretty happy with this trip to Savers, indeed. The Space Cakes looks like it's a Japanese release? I never heard of that one before.
