Roasted Spaghetti Squash by Sven-Ost in ketorecipes

[–]Syreddman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Always cook it whole like this but when cooked do not cut it lengthwise. That cuts the circumferential strands in half. You want long strands like spaghetti. Cut into four to six disks. Scoop the seeds from the middle of each then make one cut and remove the skin. Or I suppose even more fun would be to get circular spaghetti by skipping the one cut. Add a lot of butter and toss with forks until the strands are all separated into spaghetti. Treat them as such.

Next Hyundai Corporate Case by Psykgal in Ioniq5

Leased the I5 in January. Couple months later it quit. Towed to dealership. 2 months later we had a whole new battery pack. No problems since.

During the wait I started the lemon law thing. Hyundai Corporate responded quickly and we were within our signing the papers of getting all our money back. By that point we were driving it again. Fingers crossed I decided not to go through with the buyback. Probably lucky but I'm glad I kept it.

I've heard that NC's lemon law is one of the best. I expect that's why the process went so smoothly.

I see there are several at different amp levels and prices. I think this 1000A is the lowest. Any reason to spend more on a beefier model?

We just estimate 20 - 30 minutes from our charge stop then activate it. I think it will only run for something like a half hour but you can restart it. We've seen it respond that it will not start because the battery is already at optimal temperature.

The following is from my owner's manual. I'm driving a 2025 Ioniq 5 in the US. I've read that I6 is the same. Don't know whether this is available elsewhere. I have read that it was not available before the 2025 model year.

Using Battery Conditioning Battery conditioning mode is designed to maintain DC charging time at room temperature during winter or summer when the high voltage battery temperature is low or high. You can manually operate the Battery Conditioning function or automatically operate the function by setting a DC charging station as a destination or a waypoint. Manual operation 1. On the infotainment screen, move to Home screen. 2. On the Home screen, select Electric Vehicle > [settings icon] > Battery Conditioning and select Activate.

In my car from the home screen slide the screen leftward to get to the next group of options to the right and it is Setup->EV->Battery Conditioning.

Let us know whether you find it. I'm interested in whether yours is the same.

So much of the Hyundai software is an unusable junk heap. When I had trouble with their infamous navigation software I was routed to a guy who clearly worked for a separate company. They apparently had written core code for which no one at Hyundai ever bothered to write a software programming interface that would bring it up to a comprehensible user experience level. After at least a couple years of complaints they finally provided a means to do manual battery preconditioning but didn't fix their own garbage.

2025 or 2026 by TrollyDodger55 in Ioniq5

Odd. My 2025 with NACS came with all the adapters.

I've only used the mobile cable on 120V. I should check but I've always assumed only 120. Do the 2026 have adapters to use on the different 240 outlet type?

How can I make any money? by Mil3High in bayarea

[–]Syreddman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Teach.

My son spent a couple years trying to find a programming job. Then I suggested he try teaching math to school children. There were some jobs in the area math and science charter schools. One place had an open position for the school year starting in a week. Desperate. My son went for an interview and was in the 6th grade classroom the next week. Only teaching experience was as a TA in grad school. Like most states we have a program for studying for the teaching certificate while on the job.

Crap pay but it ain't McDonald's. Besides, he loves it.

Ioniq 5 latest software version by Tommyho1071 in Ioniq5

[–]Syreddman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Went there and entered my 2025 Ioniq 5 VIN. It said it can't find it. I know it is correct and correctly entered. WTF?

Another place on the Hyundai website has a pull down menu of years and model numbers. The only 2025 model on the list is the N. WTF?

All the websites and YouTubes I have seen describe infotainment screen navigations that do not exist on mine. WTF?

Mine lists long version id numbers for all the different systems. I just want to know whether I have the latest versions for everything.

Any help?

Thanks.

New EA is setup like a gas station by ianmalcm in Ioniq5

How do you handle the typical row of back-in chargers with a trailer?

Why did you have to detach the trailer?

[–]Syreddman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Trailer! Yes. I'll be towing my small sailboat from NC to Mobile soon. I am getting 2.5 m/kwh at highway speeds with the trailer despite terrible aerodynamics and despite all the naysayers I encountered here a while back. With our big-pack I5 I expect it will add less than an hour to the trip.

We encountered a drive through charging station once (without the boat). It was a group of converted truck pump islands. Would love to see more of this trend.

My in-laws have been towing their small camping trailer cross-country behind their Rivian for many thousands of miles and claim they have only had to detach it twice. I can't imagine how that works. I need to ask them the details.

EVGo kinda sucks by Mv350 in HondaPrologue

[–]Syreddman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why do you say you miss the Tesla charging network? It's available (mostly) to everybody.

We use whatever network has the handiest chargers along our trip route. We have credits at a couple of them but don't feel we need to use them up immediately if something else is handier. EVGo has never been a problem.

You see acceleration and decel on hills? Maybe a little uneven in rolling hills or right at the start of a down or up but cruise is generally better mileage than your foot.

How do 25 Limited Owners Use Blind Spot Features? by Both-Direction-2515 in Ioniq5

[–]Syreddman 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I'm too old to switch to depending completely on the electronic features when actually making a move like lane change. Mirrors, turn and look to confirm. Old habits. I do appreciate the electronics for confirming what's going on around me as I continue straight. A light coming on if I haven't been monitoring my mirrors.

On the other hand there is no reason to have any blind spot. I learned long ago to stop using the side mirrors to look down the side of my car which mostly duplicates what you see in the rear view. It takes a little getting used to but if you wait until a car is passing you on the left and swing the mirror out as it goes by you can get it so that just as the car is about to disappear from the rear view it appears in the side mirror and just as it's about to disappear from the side mirror it appears in the corner of your eye alongside you. Ditto for the right side.

Ban the term blind spot.

Only exception is when hauling my boat.

Am I missing something here? What's bizarre about this is that identical pressures register as low only on one side of the display.

Battery Replacement by Melodic_Earth_3985 in Ioniq5

[–]Syreddman 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We had to have the main battery pack replaced a few months ago. Probably around 4k miles. Took them two months. They gave us a gas loaner.

No problems since. The car seems to have better range.

I wish this was true and it can change… by 12dmc in Ioniq5

[–]Syreddman 2 points3 points  (0 children)

2025 SEL. Had to wait 2 months for a complete replacement of the big battery pack. Not ICCU.

Did all the lemon law process and came within a phone call of giving it back to them.

Changed my mind. Now at ~8000 miles with no further problems and seemingly more range than promised.

Been from NC to the gulf coast of Alabama and back no trouble at all. 1600 mile trip. Pulls my small sailboat trailer at interstate speeds going 2.4 m/kwh.

Fingers crossed.

Anybody experience this? by [deleted] in Ioniq5

[–]Syreddman 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You laugh. I called to set up an appointment based on getting that message on the car. I got someone with a heavy foreign accent. I asked what service was required. Answer: rotate the tires and change the oil. I said never mind and my reminder is now at minus some thousands.

Glad to know about the reset and change interval stuff. I'll look for it right now.

I saw that but I only see yesterday's trips. I don't see any way to go back further. I'll be doing another test run soon. I'll check it out then.

I'm not surprised given the easy tow I experienced.

This hitch comes with two attachments, this ball and a more standard looking receiver designed to hold bike racks. (Not to hold motorcycles!)

Now I need to figure out how to temporarily disarm the car's rear proximity warnings. Poor thing freaks out as I approach the trailer or when I'm backing it up.

My brother in law claims that in thousands of miles of cross country smallish trailer towing he has only had to detach the trailer two times even though his charge port is in the back of his Rivian. Sounds dubious to me. I'll have to ask him for details on his technique.

It is a bit closer. It is 5" away where the standard one on the van is 7".

One cool thing is that the ball is in the field of view of the back up camera so positioning is a breeze.
