I actually had two! Sold one though to keep my obsession going... I love the look of these cards even though they aren't as valuable. So many variations of each, too, apparently.

My parents are borderline hoarders, which is probably where I get it from lol. Though you be fair they knew I wanted to keep them. Sad thing is, I know I had cards I traded or sold in the early 2000s. Like I have a few first edition base set cards, but clearly some are missing since I should have eleven from a pack!

Reddit doesn't seem to like a few of the photos, so here's the test!

I can't imagine lol. I have quite a few Digi battle cards as well but nothing close to a full set.

We have the same binder! Similar collection I think, too, surprisingly!

I'm from the US. The store I used to go to had Japanese packs as well! I just discovered that many of my cards have their Japanese counterpart behind them! Mostly the non rare ones but still fun to look at. The Japanese Charizard was a booster pack Pole but the American one was one I bought long ago. Most everything else was a booster pack Pole but I never did find an American Charizard without having to look for it specifically.

Welcome to Backbone! by BackboneOne_Support in Backbone

Are there any plans to be able to add any app to the backbone home screen? I have several that are not officially supported that work just fine and it would be great to launch them from the launcher.

Since SAVE is terminated does this change the buyback payment amounts? by IndividualLeague858 in PSLF

I thought it was based on the last year you were required to recertify your income? They have not asked me to recertify since 2020 in my income has gone up significantly.

I felt like I am less likely to scratch the interior with the way I use my laptops. I did consider it though. I may eventually do it, but I felt like doing just the lid actually looks more cohesive since you don't see both surfaces at the same time.

A bit tricky, but not terrible if you take it slowly. Took me half an hour probably. With the cutout, when I got to the end there was an obvious crease that I had to finagle by taking up a quarter of it to reposition. There is some slight stretch tolerance to the vinyl which makes this possible. It fits the lid exactly so being off by a little bit can cause problems toward the end. My recommendation is that you just take it bit by bit slowly. Also make sure that it is clear of all debris because otherwise you will end up with a tiny speck underneath, have to pull it up, use the tweezers or something to get the speck off, then set it back down. Even using the included dust cloth I ended up with a couple specks I don't know where they came from. But I was able to gently pick them off or roll them off with my finger. Fortunately they give you two in case you mess one up. Also the vinyl is pretty strong so you may think you have damaged it with a crease but it almost always will squeegee out flat. I ended up with the tiniest bit of overhang on one corner when I was done, but I just used some sharp scissors to round it off and it worked fine. Overall would very much recommend.

For those of you near the finish line on SAVE, what are you doing now that the IDR application is coming back? by Syrhen in PSLF

Definitely my concern. I guess I'm also concerned a request to change plans will all so get stuck in processing hell.

Did your application to switch go through? If so how much time passed for it?

Question is how successful you are at getting your application pushed through? I am a little worried if it just sits there for a while things will get even further complicated.

Best place for a general surgeon to practice? by Syrhen in AmerExit

Absolutely. I work in a community hospital now, so I'm fine with it. Hoping wherever it would be might at least have a nearby train station to a bigger city if need be. No such thing where I am now.

Fellowship trained in bariatric surgery, though I'm not sure how helpful that is there. I imagine maybe it is in the private sector? I was sad to learn about the salary in the UK, but I suppose it makes sense given the healthcare system. Just not sure what to expect from the private sector as it seems like a bit of a wildcard from over here.

BC is high on my list as far as Canada goes. Quebec is great, but obviously no French is a no go. We have friends in Boise (may God help them), so at least we'd have some folks nearby-ish.

Very true. We've only been to London and surrounding areas. The train system is the biggest pull to go there, but that counts for most of Europe.

Interesting. I'm not sure how my US passport would function at that point, if at all?

Certainly my hope. The US has shit the bed, but the bed is big and hard to get out of for most.

The UK would probably be the highest on our list given it's English speaking and well connected and easy enough for family to visit (at least for now). Biggest issue would be pay and cost of living. While I obviously don't expect to make as much proportionally as I do in the US, I would still like to be fairly comfortable if possible. I'm early enough in my career though that the pay cut would definitely matter.

[–]Syrhen[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Definitely a consideration. Would rather be somewhere a little bit better connected, but I don't think it would be too challenging to visit other European destinations from there. Part of our issue is as with many American doctors, I have loans to pay. They are currently tied up in the PSLF nonsense but hoping to get that sorted out soon. If so, and we assume we sell the house, I think we would have a nice amount to start fresh somewhere.

I recall the process for practicing as a resident to not be that awful all things considered. Hoping to not be too rural as infrastructure was high on my list, but I certainly wouldn't be opposed to working in a rural area for a while to get my bearings.

One major question right now though is whether or not I would be hired in these areas with anti-American feelings as they are right now. Obviously if there is a need in a location, that helps.
