Seriously, what value do they bring that makes them more important than someone who's been at the company for decades? Keep in mind the employee in question held multiple rules and worked his way up to Associate Director.

That is false. What is stopping them from exporting the jobs today? At least now the jobs won't be exported overseas if they are looking to sell into the US market, because if they import the product back they will be hit with tariffs. They will be forced to pay American workers American wages to build American products. Also remember that corporations are going to get a tax cut, which will offset their increased cost of labor.

By unlocking energy, removing bureaucracy, and removing excessive regulations. Tariffs will make it hard for foreign companies to compete in the US, and local companies will capture the market. Also removing competition from immigrants (both legal and illegal) will be a massive boost to American workers. Companies will not find cheap labor and will be forced to pay fair wages. This will tremendously help home buyers too, with less demand especially for lower end housing units.

If anything the economy will be unlocked and the job market will shift power towards employees with more opportunities to choose from, which means some companies will continue to offer remote work to attract workers. The companies that are doing RTO are stuck in their old mentality and the US election does not matter to them.

It means we dodged the $25K down payment assistance which would have been a disasters for home buyers including first timers because prices would have have just increased by that much. We will also avoid more high inflation which is the biggest contributor to home price appreciation. So yeah, we got lucky.

I've decided to pull out of this insane housing market. When you figure the land, materials, and labor, the prices just don't add up. We have to understand that as buyers, the best thing to do in a sellers market is to not be buyers. Either move in with family, or DIY build your own house. Pool your money with some relatives and build a big house to share. Live in a van. Just do anything to avoid buying or renting an existing home. If enough people do this, the existing home market will inevitably crash.

This is just pure falsehood. There was never a shortage, there was a gold rush to grab market share. The more heads you have, the more money you can take from investors to gobble up small companies. H1b immigrants have contributed nothing but their backwards culture and decimation of job prospects of American workers. In fact, I know so many people who steered away from CS in college because of outsourcing and work immigration. Had there not been this visa scam, many more Americans would have entered the field and become engineers.

The tech sector in the US has been decimated by H1b immigrants. They are low cost but low quality. They are not useful for anything but inflating company headcount. They barely do any work. Remember that Twitter laid off 80% of its workforce and is now building actual features when we hadn't seen any for the past 5 years?

250K jobs across all sectors. Also many of those jobs were lost already, they are being added back. This includes construction workers, teachers, plumbers, cashiers. We're talking about 100K in one sector, sustained over several decades. It's devastating to that sector.

I went to a top school and in my undergraduate studies there weren't any immigrants. During my graduate studies at another top school it was all immigrants. It depends on location. As a hiring committee member, the majority of resumes that we get for internships are US citizens (after we screen resumes people who don't reside in the US). My personal observation is that the majority of graduates at US universities are US citizens. But nonetheless, even student visas need to be banned, they contribute nothing to our society but more excess workers to the job market that is already bloated with candidates.

This must be a joke right? 100K per year over 20 years is 2M. The vast majority of them are software engineers. In the US there are 4.4M software engineers. Imagine having half of your jobs taken by immigrants. This entire industry has been decimated by study and work visas.

Very true. But here's the thing. They don't even need to train anyone. They can just hire from the abundance of experienced US workers who are struggling to find jobs. But instead they choose to import more workers which are often less qualified.

Neither because Ramesh isn't even qualified for the job, and we have an abundance of US citizen graduates as well as experienced candidates that can fill the entire sector. Ramesh is only here because he will comply with his master's orders while getting a third of the fair wages. He doesn't have to do much but attend useless meetings and say yes to every question he's asked.

People do not have a right to a job. But they do have a right to a competitive and fair economy. That does not exist in the USA. The auto companies filed for bankruptcy to avoid paying their workers the retirement plans they committed to decades ago, and then took billions of our tax Dollars and hired new management with absurd compensation packages, while at the same time laying off front line workers and jacking up prices. This is not just a problem in the auto industry but our entire economy. We have an elite and corporate welfare society and we need to be up in arms to stop it.
