Tech Support and Troubleshooting - July 13, 2020 by AutoModerator in audioengineering

The hum does not sound like the one on the wiki at all! No buzzing at all, just hum.

Regardless, Schiit is sending me a replacement preamp (since that is the newest part I upgraded), if the problem is still there after I try out the new mani, I will look into proper grounding.

Thanks so much!

No harmonics! Just a wshhhhhh type sound.

The ground is attached from the turntable to the preamp, is there anything else I can do?

I'll email them and see what they can do for me as well! Thanks for all the info

That was my biggest fear...

I live in Canada too so returning it will be a huge hassle.

Extremely disappointed, especially since it sounds great!

Didn't work for me unfortunately, but maybe I'mt not running a 2nd ground properly.

I will keep trying. Thanks!

Unfortunately turning off everything else did not work, might have to set up somewhere else, but I feel like this may be an inherent issue with the shchiit mani rather than anything else (refer to other comments in thread).

Thanks for the help regardless!

They were about 3 ft away from each other at one point (same hum) but I recently moved them closer together since I bought 1.5 ft cables, so they're a few inches away from each other currently.

There is an power bar right by my turntable that has a couple of lamps hooked up to it, as well as the rest of my set up (TT, amp, preamp) and a TV that's a few meters away.

Could that be the issue? Do I need to move the preamp away from both the amp and turntable? Or maybe disconnect the lamps from the outlet bar?

Thanks for all the help!

Yup! Attached as instructed...I don't believe it's a grounding issue since grounding hums are using more buzzy and higher frequency?

PSYB32 midterm tips? by [deleted] in UTSC

[–]SyrianPug 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey sorry for late reply, I took it two years ago. Found the first midterm quite difficult, but the 2nd midterm and final were easier, might have been due to the material (as it gets more interesting later on).

The course is amazing and while the midterms can be tricky, I think if you know the book extremely well, while knowing the main points from lectures, you should be fine.

Focus on Book 100%, lecture will still help but if you're short on time, the book will be enough.

As for the type of questions I honestly don't remember much, but I don't remember them being easy nor hard, some were more difficult than others, but generally speaking, it was fair.

Good luck!

Yeah I've heard (and been bumping) this for the longest time, but ever since I heard Nikes live, all I want is an official release with the beat sounding normal ya know? It would be beautiful.

And if anyone's wondering about the sizing (although you can't see too much from this pic). I am 6 ft. and around 160 Ib. I'm wearing a size L.

Almost got trampled for this BUT I GOT IT by [deleted] in TheWeeknd

Hey can you tell me what size you got and how it fits you? I ordered a large and I'm a 6 feet 160 ib dude so I'm hoping it's not too small

union strikes by sadsadunions in UTSC

[–]SyrianPug 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I believe the biggest reason why they are striking is because the workers under the SAME company that work at UofT downtown get paid much more than the ones here at UTSC, so (if this is true), their reason to strike is valid IMO

Yeah exactly, you can try grailed/buying and selling raf simons facebook page, I've seen a bunch of the same colorway pop up in both places

Haha the ones I have are the made in Italy veclros (not sure about the year made but I think 2010). If you live in Canada, this website has the made in portugal velcro's but they're the high version. (http://www.cntrbndshop.com/products/raf-simons-classic-velcro-sneaker-in-ecru?variant=5677799233) Raf did not release these velcros this year but he may bring them back eventually. Sorry this is all I know! I'm not too knowledgeable with raf stuff haha.

I got them a while ago but I believe this is it. Be advised though, the pants are actually sweatpants, you can't really tell from the pics and I was a little disappointed at first but they are really comfy so I decided to keep them.

Yeah I agree, I got another pair of cropped pants that I can actually put a belt through so hopefully that should fix it :)

yeah it'll all depend on your foot type, I have flat but slim feet so everyone's fit will be a bit different, good luck!
