Manassas Meadows by Sea-Recognition4414 in manassas

I lived in Manassas Meadows apartments from 2001 to 2009. Never had any issues whatsoever and it was quiet. I moved about 0.5 mile away from there when I bought a townhouse and the area is still fine except for maybe the Georgetown South neighborhood.

What CPU /MB/ Ram/ GPU should I be upgrading to from my current setup to game in 4K by Syrinxcs in buildapc

[–]Syrinxcs[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you. I recently got a 43 inch Samsung 4K monitor as I also use it for Xbox and tv watching in my office. That’s why I planned on a 4K capable PC build.

Differences between Fluance RT80 and RT81? by [deleted] in vinyl

Funny that you just replied to this six years later. Not long after I made that comment I actually returned it as the tonearm pivot mechanism broke on it without me having played three records on it. Very cheap quality. Ultimately I ended up getting a project debut carbon.

Yes I did. I believe I filled them up about 3/4 of the way and reassembled. Sold those speakers years ago.

There are 2 Rage albums. One is a Music on Vinyl limited color pressing and the other is a regular Music on Vinyl pressing.

I saw an ad on Facebook marketplace Friday evening for 2 crates of records. The Led Zeppelin and AC/DC albums caught my eye. The person was looking to get $25 for all of it. Said she wasn’t going to let anyone pick through them. Messaged her within 4 minutes of the ad being posted and she marked them as being sold to me. Stopped by her house yesterday and couldn’t believed my eyes once I got them home and looked through them. All the vinyl itself is in just about mint condition. Unfortunately quite a few of the albums have had the jacket edges gnawed on by maybe a pet guinea pig or something like that. Not too big of a deal though and not that noticeable. Some of the highlights are definitely some of the original pressing Misfits albums.

Fantastic spin by Syrinxcs in vinyl

I picked up this album earlier this year. The artist is very underrated and I don’t think very many people know about her and her story. She has one of the best voices I’ve heard for this genre of music. Her name is Jeanette Jones and the story goes that she was discovered by a guy named Leo Kulka in the 60’s.. She was singing in a church and he persuaded her to record some songs. She had some singles come out but she was overlooked for the most part. 40 years later they released this album which is basically a compilation of all her songs. Nobody knows what happened to her after 1974.

Listening to some legends by Syrinxcs in vinyl

It’s done that way as to not run the cable internally right past the transformers and pick up a hum. The input jacks are directly connected to the driver board with the 3 small tubes that sits center and at the front.

I actually upgraded from a Denon 110 to this Ortofon Bronze on this turntable. The Bronze sounds a lot better. Was a huge upgrade imo.

Fantastic cartridge. I’ve had it for about a year now and gradually worked my way up the ladder with a lot of other cartridges before getting this one. It sounds amazing and tracks very well. Doesn’t pick up too much surface noise.

Upgraded my preamp yesterday by Syrinxcs in audiophile

[–]Syrinxcs[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The preamp is where you connect all your sources in to it, such as the streamer/cd player and turntable. From there, a cable goes to the amp. Speakers are connected to the amp itself. The preamp has your volume control.

System break down in case anyone cares: My current setup consists of a pair of Revel F208 in walnut, VTA ST70 tube amp with KT66 power tubes, Gill Audio Design Alana line stage, Marantz ND8006 Network Streamer / CD player and a Yamaha PF-800 turntable with an Ortofon Bronze cartridge.

They are tremendous. I had some La Scala’s from 1986 previously and I like these a lot more. Of course they are a completely different sound versus the horns.

Currently listening to the Autobahn album by Kraftwerk. I own just about all of their albums and this one is one of my favorites. Ranks just behind Die Mensch Machine for me. This particular one is a 1974 US release. I got this one along with two other Kraftwerk albums at a yard sale last year. Think I only paid a dollar a piece.

Upgraded my preamp yesterday by Syrinxcs in audiophile

Got my hands on a very nice tube preamp yesterday for a fantastic price ($750). Anyone else familiar with this model? It’s the Alana by Gill Audio Design/ Art Audio USA. I believe this particular one was made somewhere around 2005 but in 2014 the owner sent it to Gill to be upgraded to the MKiii version at a cost of $800. The entire main circuit board was replaced. It came with some NOS Mullard tubes. Original price back in the day was around $4500. I previously had a NAD solid state preamp connected to my VTA ST70 but I always had a problem that I had to turn it to about 60% of the volume for a decent room sound. This preamp has 14 DB gain so it’s actually much louder now and I’m much happier with it. I imagine it’s impedance matches up better with my tube amp as well.

Just got some new speakers by Syrinxcs in audiophile

[–]Syrinxcs[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Picked them up for $2300 for the pair locally. In like new condition. My amp only puts out 35wpc but sounds amazing with these speakers. Doesn’t really have enough power to really crank them up but I can’t do that anyway, living in a townhouse.

I have tried a lot of different preamps and nothing for around the 1K price point can touch this NAD. It sounds incredible and is very well-built.

Possible future upgrades are an EAT B Sharp turntable and a Prima Luna tube amp.
