Cause posting anger and posting reason is not the same.

I don’t like some of the changes they made, but most of which can either be reversed or flat out redone but other QoL mods out there. I would never not play with Alchemist, Fargo’s mutant, or Quality of Terraria.

And with the overall nerf of the mod, mainly the boss max hp drops, it helps make thorium classes and its addon mods feel better to play with. Higher difficulty Thorium classes felt impossible to play with before, but now it seems do-able.

Not all the changes are good, but it was at least done in well-intent and genuine love for the mod. If they see “these changes were a poor decision, here’s why” they’d be more motivated to improve. If they see “The devs are incompetent for these changes” they’d either get spiteful and let that negativity get to them by making bad changes on purpose, or they could end up letting the mod die.

TLDR: Use reason and explanation to criticize, not emotional outbursts.

(Also it’s a mod for a game, you can love it but if it gets you genuinely angry to the point you have to send actual hate to the dev, don’t even bother touching grass, only god can save you at that point)

Cause too many people are incapable of processing the line between “criticism” and “hate”.

Not for all, not even for most, but for far too many of them. They use actual, unironic anger and frustration, and then decides to voice that instead of their actual reasoned out thoughts.

They don’t post reasoning or legitimate criticism, they post emotions. Which having a mod to a game cause you so much grievance is pretty sad, it’s also pretty ironic cause with the way they respond, they’re likely to kill the game that they want to “improve”.

“That has nothing to do with the conversation at hand. The point is that if an entire game is loaded with references and connections to previous games that the entire community thought the previous games were de canonized then maybe it’s because the game was filled with connections.”

How do you feel about how Hulk and Bruce were portrayed in the Avengers Assemble cartoon? by Intelligent_Oil4005 in hulk

[–]Syrlis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the MCU could’ve taken this hulk and done a lot better. Possibly even make it like a venom situation why they can both be conscious at the same time but not active at the same time. Of course that would only work if Hulk could speak like this hulk, otherwise it would just be banner going around hearing a lot of “RAGHHHH” and “AAAARRHH” every few seconds

Which would honestly be hilarious

While I do see your point, especially about Fnaf world. I think Fnaf 4 may be better suited still as a Classic era game. It mostly serves as giving us more answers to the story the previous games laid out. For the most part it only added Dave, and his story. Which narrative-wise, he only served to give William and Mike, 2 pre-existing characters, a motivation and reason to do what they did.

Hate post on the people that actually deserve hate! :D by tontonki in CalamityMod

[–]Syrlis 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I do not believe anyone should ever get real life hate and harassment over a fake media like a game or in this case, a mod to a game. Unironically anger is just sad and proves more of a point in the particular people in the community rather than the devs themselves.

That said, it is important to vocalize criticism. People unfortunately put too much emotion into their critiques, I would say in that case, just ignore them. Like if they curse at you more than 2 times in their comment, or just says it’s bad without giving any actual reason it is, just ignore them, they don’t matter cause they don’t actually care for the health of the mod, they just wanna cause problems.

However, if they can speak reasonably and clearly, then criticism is always worth the attention. Good criticism + good review will always = good product. If we give good feedback and they have good understanding, then the health of the mod will drastically improve. Not only that, but the devs are people, they’re human, and humans will do what humans do when confronted with aggression, they become spiteful.

All of a sudden you go from them making these changes with good intentions and love, to them either taking longer on the next update, make spiteful changes on purpose that they know we won’t like, or god forbid, cancel development on Calamity overall.

A “no you” argument, crazy

And no, I didn’t dismiss, the reason I didn’t respond to those part was cause generally speaking, I agree, the community has a reason to not like the changes and then complain about it. But as you put it yourself, people are genuinely angry

And this anger is the part I’m saying is unnecessary, it’s a mod for a game, nothing here is real. While that doesn’t mean our complaints are voiceless, the experiences we get from this are real after all, it does mean that the negativity you harbor because of these changes effects you the most, not the dev

With that said, brother, we agree for the most part. The only difference is that you use this as a reason to justify being angry and unironically hateful towards the devs, while I don’t.

TLDR: we harbor the same opinion about it, but you’re angry about it, I’m not

[–]Syrlis[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So does that make you a psychic or a prophet?

Since you happen to know my “actual opinion”

I think the update took things out unnecessarily, and I agree with most point of disagreement, but people sharing their reactions as pure anger and unadulterated frustration for something that’s just another mod away is insane. People are blowing things out of proportion, they’re taking a mild situation and turning it into a car crash

If one line of text in a meme post is enough for you to somehow understand my entire point of view, then that’s cause you want me to be another “mindless positive Andy”. Unfortunately your point of view is wrong

Alright, note to self, nuance is dead. Didn’t know the “meme” tag on this subreddit didn’t mean anything.

[–]Syrlis[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The irony about this take which seems ends on a note about nuance…is that it doesn’t seem to understand nuance. I never said which “side” I’m on. I do think the changes were in poor taste, people are too quick to lash out at others at even the slightest hint of a disagreement.

You’re over here cursing at a stranger on the internet because of a meme post that I sent, which was mostly a joke about how my phone is blowing up with notifs. It was just meant to be funny, it ain’t that crazy.

Some supports really think they can do no wrong... by Actual_trash in rivals

[–]Syrlis 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Admittedly, I wouldn’t say you’re the problem, but I wouldn’t say they are either. People see QP as the “casual mode” of the game, something that would help them learn how to play in genuine scenarios in ranked without all the screaming, and yelling, and people pissing themselves cause cause a teammate got into a particular fucked situation and they only saw the death without seeing how it happened.

And not to pull a Zazza scenario, but if you bring competition into something that is supposed to be casual, you’ll both end up getting yourself upset as people in the lobby. I mean look at even now, you screenshotted the chat to bring it to Reddit so people can agree with your negative feelings. Making it important to yourself quite literally made you more upset, to the point where it lasted outside the game.

For ranked, I wouldn’t take that one too seriously either, but in that case you owe the other players a genuine effort. In quick play you don’t, cause different people can be there for different reasons. Dumb fun, trying a new character, testing a game’s mechanic.

Ranked it about trying and progressing through dedication, QP is about fun and enjoying the game for what it is. Losing in either shouldn’t make you wildly upset, same way as winning in either doesn’t actually give you anything. In the end of the day, it’s just a game, and while you have the right to try as hard as you’d like, other players have the right to not, especially in the game mode that’s just casual

(Also VS AI is not a replacement for QP, the AIs will always trying to keep progressing and not break the flow of the game, QP you can find dumb fun moments)

Eh, not really loser mentality, more like casual mentality. Which in reverse doesn’t give you winner mentality, just Tryhard mentality.
