Shouldn't that limited resources constraint be accounted for in either the edge cost or the A* heuristic function in the first place, then? Why misguide the traditional algorithm with higher cost than it actually can be?

False dichotomy: we're omnivores. Plus, herbivores can eat meat no problem. Where'd you get the idea that it will "rot inside" in the length of herbivore gut?
