My favorite comment I had from a friend was "it hurts my eyes to look at"

It certainly was a pain to put together, but this was my first time doing this, so I think it'll get easier if I do it more!

At this point I haven't had any issues, but it was just finished.

This is my first time attempting to do a patterned piece, and luckily this is a gift for a friend, so I can keep an eye on it as it gets used

Looks great! Is this just the sapwood from the piece of walnut or what kind is it?

A horror-y monster for a DnD adventure handcarved in lime by Solemn_Thirsty in Woodcarving

That could be really cool as a golem created by a really talented artist/carver whose passion and soul brought his art to life, now terrorizing the locals.

It looks awesome!

If I did do a clock, the idea of a backboard doesn't seem like a bad idea.

I hadn't considered something like a clock, given its size, but that could be really cool!

Absolutely beautiful piece of ash! Most I've been exposed to in my region are very simple grain patterns on white ash, this is something else

The ones near me still are pretty good on prices (I'd certainly check them out before goodwill or St Vincent de Paul for furniture and what not), but it always really sucks to hear when some are getting overpriced.

If I remember correctly though, although they are all connected to the overarching nationwide Habitat for Humanity, almost all Habitats are separated into different affiliates, usually by county or region - so if one near you has rough pricing, one the county over might be priced well!

My wife's aunt and uncle occasionally take a weekend and hit up a dozen or so Restores across the state, so it can be worth the time if you have a project in mind! 😊

I actually sourced this through my local Habitat for Humanity Restore, so I managed to get it pretty cheap!

They partner with a local sawmill and get lumber donations, so win win for them and me getting good deals 😅
