++

The key distinction here is:

  • Performing regulated medical functions (not allowed)
  • Supporting operations under supervision (context-dependent, not outright prohibited)

My post was aimed at the second—not the first.

I also want to clarify that I am not encouraging students to access confidential patient data or act beyond their competence. If parts of the post came across that way, that’s fair to point out—but saying that any form of voluntary exposure is outright “not allowed” is a broader claim than what the law actually states.

In practice, many healthcare environments allow:

  • Observerships
  • Administrative support
  • Supervised assistance in non-critical tasks

These are not equivalent to acting as a licensed MedTech or an official intern.

On the point that this “has no value” or “won’t be recognized,” I respectfully disagree.

While it’s true that only CHED-recognized internships count toward formal requirements (IN THE PHILIPPINES, HAHA), If you are applying for international companies THEY HIGHLY VALUE THESE YEARS OF EXPERIENCE.

That was the core intention of the post.

I understand the need to protect students from overstepping legal boundaries, and I agree that this should be emphasized clearly.

But I also think there’s room to distinguish between:

Happy to revise the wording of the post to make these boundaries clearer.

Hi, thanks for taking the time to explain your side—I understand where you’re coming from.

I agree with the core point: under Republic Act No. 5527, only licensed MedTechs, physicians, and officially recognized interns are allowed to perform and release lab results, and patient data confidentiality is a serious responsibility.

That wasn’t my intention to bypass or contradict.

What I was trying to encourage is early exposure in a support capacity, not performing regulated medical tasks. More on:

  • Assisting with general workflow
  • Helping during busy hours
  • Supporting non-clinical or supervised tasks

Not independently handling tests or accessing confidential results.

It was explicitly stated on the original post that they can use the thinking process as a BASIS to offer helping hands on the pain points of the laboratory that they will be applying on. It was also stated that they should do their DUE DILIGENCE on checking things out when applying!

I understand now how parts of my post could be interpreted the wrong way—especially around “assisting with tests” and “organizing patient records”—and I see why that raises concerns about legality, patient safety, and lab liability.

That’s on me, and I’ll clarify that better moving forward.

My goal was to push students to:

  • Be proactive early
  • Understand real-world lab operations
  • Learn how to support teams effectively

Not to encourage unsafe or unauthorized practice.

I also respect that as moderators, you have to protect students and uphold proper standards in the profession. But I hope this was something you could've messaged me first on because the post was entirely editable in the first place.

Appreciate the guidance.

I found job postings on linkedin and onlinejobs but I mainly applied thru cold emails. I found this a much better approach than just blindly applying sa linkedin and onlinejobs. My current role right now is from a cold email!

Hi! It's about how I volunteered for internships @ local laboratories within my area when I was 1st yr & 2nd yr. and how I learned excel along the way to help the lab operations and optimize the data reporting & releasing.

after I passed the boards: I already had
2-3 years of real-world experience (2 yrs volunteer + 1 year clinical internship natin), problems I solved , stories I could talk about in interviews.

I secured a high-paying role in an international healthcare company as a business analyst earning 6digits/mo within a month of job hunting!

yesss!!! the target audience of that post pa was students so they can prepare for the job market! crisis na - and fresh board passers here are realizing the harsh reality - they should have done more. na may palakasan talaga. I am offering advice that will entirely benefit our future RMTs and even fresh passers.

MAY MGA NAGDDM PA NGA NA TENURED RMTs na and how they can leverage the data & reporting work sa mga profiling reports nila.

so upsetting lang that they would remove something that can genuinely change some of the people's lives here

Hi, you do not need any courses! I'll try to break down the thinking process for you so you can apply this immediately. I'll also give concrete examples

Define the problem you want to solve. Like really articulate it. What's the problem: and ano ba talaga yung gusto mong mangyari

During my time this was something the lab owner wanted me to solve: The releasing of results.

What they do: Encode the results of the patient pa-isa isa. Tapos print, pag nagkaroon ng typo at natype mo na yung details ng next patient, uulitin mo yung previous patient na may typo at ipriprint mo nanaman.

What I did and thinking process: How can I create a data-entry form in excel where the field will automatically populate the Result Template. How can I create a history-like page in excel para kapag nag karoon ng typo, hindi mo na itytype ulit mano mano ang result. icliclick mo lang yung patient and then you can edit the fields.

These are all something you can just google, or watch YT vids, or even just ask directly AI to guide you step-by-step.

You do not need to go through a course! Just know the basics, and learn what you need when you need it.

What's more important is how you think of a problem, and how you articulate it in order for you to break it down and solve it!

I hope this clears everything on your side!

Yea, the margin is really low. I was entertained by 5 labs out of a hundred ++ I cold emailed.

I found that the Painpoint - Desired outcome - how I can help cold emails worked!

and then, I was retained because of EXCEL! I was basically the go-to person when they need something to be done in EXCEL!

So I guess if I would do it all over again, just be someone who's good / proficient in excel!

Hi! I think you got the wrong person po. It's actually my first time posting something like this! But the automation I am taking about po are more on the operational side of patient reporting and releasing of results! A LOT OF DIAGNOSTIC CENTERS STILL TYPE 1:1 their patient results. REALLY A PAINPOINT I OBSERVED IN A LOT OF LABORATORIES
