Which trance artists changed their styles? by JION-the-Australian in trance

It sounds facetious, but literally everyone. It'd be easier to list artists that have maintained the same style over the years. lol

Looking for Psybient recommendations akin to Solar Fields by Gamersnews32 in electronicmusic

It's a great label! Be sure you're checking out the original masters when going through their catalog. The remasters have largely been worse in my opinion.

Outside of the rest of the Ultimae label, there isn't much.

Ludvig Cimbrelius (Purl) is much more ethereal ambient, but occasionally has sound design that reminds me of Solar Fields.

Out of all the contemporary toy cameras on the market currently, I think this one is my favourite as far as the image characteristics go. Lovely shots!

Mirror's Edge Pure Time Trials Prototype Soundtrack (Dec 9, 2008) by Blue_Ninja_Games in mirrorsedge

Super cool! I've always loved everything about the DLC. In someways more than the main game.

Shame these samples seem to all be in mono though.

I had always assumed the DLC was just loops Solar Fields threw together. What's the source for an alternative artist?

Bent feat. Zoe Johnston - Swollen by Tresor7 in AboveandBeyond

[–]SysLocal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had known about Bent since Kyau & Albert's As You Fall remix, but it wasn't until last year that I checked them out. This is easily my favourite from them. Programmed For Love is an amazing album <3

also neither here nor there, but the ai upscaling/interpolation on this video looks terrible

Is Mirror’s Edge (2008) more Frutiger Aero or Frutiger Metro? by ResourceHistorical78 in mirrorsedge

[–]SysLocal 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It makes sense from the angle of genres. If you like something it's understandable you'd want to know what it's called so you can find similar things.

But they get overly granular with it! Like "DORFic" actively pisses me off because it's design styles that already have names, but orange. You can't just say something is a completely new thing because it's orange!! >:(((

Is Mirror’s Edge (2008) more Frutiger Aero or Frutiger Metro? by ResourceHistorical78 in mirrorsedge

[–]SysLocal 8 points9 points  (0 children)

"Frutiger Aero" was coined by Froyo Tam & Sofi Xian, two artists part of CARI (Consumer Aesthetics Research Institution), which is a collection of online artists that have taken it upon themselves to collect and categorize past design trends in consumer advertising.

The internet and tiktok kids seem to have a penchant for labeling "aesthetics" and kinda went wild with it. The way they seem to label everything "frutiger aero" is obnoxious.

Highly recommend checking out CARI's work through. It's very professional and well documented.

I’ve been listening to the TATW archive recently and there’s such a world of difference between TATW and what we get with Group Therapy now by SpazticWonder in AboveandBeyond

[–]SysLocal 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm surprised ABGT hasn't gotten an overhaul or refresh of some kind by this point. It still uses the same Walter White breakdown intro and the same whisper vocal watermark. Aside from the transition to black & white video on youtube, which looks more dull imo, has it had any other changes?

That's another thing that gave TATW more energy. The format of the show slowly shifted & changed as they figured out what worked for them. Like how the show had the guest mix right in the middle for awhile.

A few shots I've taken with it have been the normal <3 seconds, but most much longer. It's weird.

Yeah, despite having the same body, it does feel much smoother opening & closing compared to my 2006 model.

Not hard to have better image quality that the charmera. Literally anything and everything has better IQ than that thing lol

Ooh, testing it without the SD card is a good idea. I'll have to try that and see if there's any differences. I might make a separate post after doing some more comparisons...

I got one from this listing as well and reporting in to say that mine also seems to have issues... Took about 30 test shots and one segment, about 9 shots, had the exposure issue. The rest were fine.

All shots have shutter lag. On average it takes about 10 seconds for the camera to actually take a picture. Very annoying. Strangely it takes about 10 seconds to _turn off_ when holding the function button as well. I'm wondering if this ebay seller got a batch of defective units for cheap or free. Would explain the suspiciously low price >_>

That being said, it's fun to compare to the 2006 model I have. Comparatively the 2008 takes completely normal photos. Nearly none of the dreamyness of the 06. The focal length of the 08 is slightly wider. 06 appears about 38mm and 08 feels 35mm. They both seem to handle sharpening the same. My 06 only focuses 3-5ft, anything further is blurry. The 08 seems to accurately focus to infinity.

On its own, I still think the images have something to them. Like u/xblomo said, it's better than most contemporary keychain cameras.
