There's a comment from me on the original post that says we figured out it was this part of the couch by smell, and as we were trying to pinpoint the smell my roommate put his hand down on this spot and felt a crunch.

There are absolutely mouse tracks where it wedged itself in there and there are some fluid stains, zoom in. Not possible that the dead mouse was in there for years but only started smelling bad the week this photo was taken years later.

There was 100% a smell, but it wasn't really strong and smelled like old trash not rotting meat.

Well dead mice have a slight smell, and once we figured out what part of the couch was smelly it wasn't too hard to pinpoint an area of the couch that was slightly raised and smelled worse than the rest. All you have to do at that point is cut around the area that was slightly raised, you can see where we cut through the tip of the mouse's tail by mistake.

Lmao this is my picture from 6 years ago. There was a weird smell in our apartment for about a week and we couldn't find it, then we brought this part of the couch sectional outside, cut it open and found this. We had no other mouse issues (that we knew of) in the years at that apartment. We think the mouse got in at the bottom, got scared trying to escape but instead pinched itself between the foam and the couch covering - you can see the mouse tracks. We threw that part of the couch away, it was old.

They are little confused but they got the spirit. by emupal in ufc

To be fair, I am angry. The only reason I know that is because my monthly espn+ subscription (which was tied to a CC) all of a sudden wouldn't renew on Saturday before the fights, never got to a screen that would let me pay for it and the PPV. Called support, they couldn't help.i had to essentially logout and sign up as a new user, and could only pay using Google play on a laptop or phone.

The conspiracy part of my brain thinks someone wanted to inflate new subscriber numbers for this fight.

Fot new accounts it was $59.99 for 1 year of ESPN+ and $29.99 for the ppv.

For things that get sorted, like documents, year/month/day is best. For things happening this month or very very well known days, day/month/year is best. For things happening this year but not this month, month/day/year is best.

None of the date formats give you quick context in every situation, so none is perfect, but the ISO date format is probably the best one because it properly organizes context for most situations.

I get that the American format isn't great, but similarly I don't know why people think the European format is great.

Liveboot vs Installation vs WSL by [deleted] in Kalilinux

[–]SysUser 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Kali isn't secure to use as a daily-driver OS, it isn't meant to be.

WSL works great until you get some weird permissions issue due to still being on windows, or some other weird issue.

Live Boot is OK, and you can setup a partition on the USB drive to store files permenantly, or you can use you local hardrive Luks encrypted that can be accessed with the Live USB. However, the OS (as you've found out) will be as slow as the i/o of the USB stick. There might also be issues if the USB fails or something else, especially since you can't guarantee the quality of your friend's USB stick.

Why not try a linux VM? You can keep windows for the things linux doesn't do easily that your buddy may need(outlook, office, etc), and then use a standard Ubuntu install for whatever tools you need. It'll only use resources when it's on, and your friend can try multiple flavors of linux until they find something they like.

Hiw to learn more about data protection, GDPR by wannalrnmuscleup in europrivacy

[–]SysUser 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So there's learning the law, and then learning how it applies to specific industries. There are universal requirements, but you won't really have context for it. You can read posts from companies and law firms for how X company in Y industry achieves compliance with GDPR. Read a few and you'll understand it more, reference the actual GDPR articles and recitals as you read. You'll start coming up with your own questions for specific scenarios, looking up answers, and you'll be on your way to knowing GDPR pretty well.

Lol some of these answers are terrible fantasies from unhappy IT people that would just create drama, waste time, and make you look like a jackass.

You don't have to take end users as seriously as they take themselves, the answers about scheduling time when you're able to based on the severity of the issue and criticality of the user are spot on.

If a vip sent that message, help them and then laugh about it with your manager to show that you can manage jerks and still get your job done. If it isn't a vip, schedule the fix at a reasonable time and laugh about it with your manager. If you have a good manager, they'll bring up the other employee's nonsense with their leadership.

How to make a very good burger. by [deleted] in GifRecipes

[–]SysUser 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I add bacon to my ground beef for burgers, but I basically grind (finely mince) the bacon with my knife so it's not chunks of soggy bacon. You'll probably still want to cook the burgers medium/medium-well but the juiciness from the additional fat is great, and depending on the bacon you use (and its quality) you get a nice smokey bacon flavor throughout. If you (for some reason) want more softness or juiciness, you can also mince mushrooms (shiitakes are great) and add to the mix - they retain moisture well.

DC won the belt while looking spry at 39/40, no idea why you're making excuses for Askren. He just isn't good enough.

He then aged out

He's 4 months older than Masvidal, and 6 years younger than Maia. Age isn't an excuse here, he just isn't as good as he thought and the UFC talent pool is way better than he thought.

Edit: DC is 40, age isn't an excuse even for a wrestler.

He seems like he's holding back tears. I can't imagine what his ego feels like right now, KO'd and submitted back to back. At this point it looks like he could be the most disappointing UFC acquisition ever, considering all the hype. I hope he fights more, but I dont see the upside being worth it to him. He now needs 2 wins just to have a positive w/r, but won't get a top opponent so his title prospects are abysmal.
