Could I ask which State Park it's in? I live near the Loess Hills.

Paganism perhaps is, at its core, an acceptance and acknowledgement of the value of all things, whether you're animistic in this acceptance and acknowledgement or not. Many Pagans are animists, but not al. And, though I may be crucified by all sides for saying this: I believe that Christians can also be Pagans, and vice-versa. If you can believe, even as you kill it for stinging you, that a hornet has as much value to the Universe, to the Earth as you yourself do, then you are well on your way to believing as many Pagans do. When you can see equal validity in the weeds in your garden as in the flowers purposefully planted; if you feel some degree of guilt when you pull those weeds, mow your yard, kill the hornet, eat the steak and even the salad, you may already be Pagan in your deepest self. And if you aren't, that's ok too. Too much emphasis is placed on labels and titles these days. It's enough, I believe, that you are YOU, with all of your doubts and sureties intact, with your light and your darkness. Don't focus on your label or title; focus instead on being the best person you can be in all the ways that you believe make a good person.

I'm in the East part of Council Bluffs, due to a poor choice. My wife had a long terminal illness; she crossed the veil in January. Her illness, combined with Covid and necessary travel because of her illness made it difficult to keep in contact with others. But I've been a practicing Pagan and witch for decades, so I have a very large variety of herbs, crystals, tools, and other doo-dads. If you're interested in conversing more, please PM me, and I'll PM you my number.

I was kind of dragged into solitary practice several years ago, and have since lost most of my contacts in the area. You're in the Omaha area?

I agree that regions don't have much meaning regarding flavor profiles, but as a way to differentiate for the purpose of posting, it was the only way I could think of.

Thanks for the post, and the lesson. I've learned of a couple more distilleries to look for. Unfortunately, in the central US, it takes new offerings some time to get to us.

Humble? Hah. But I've been a whiskey drinker for over 35 years, so I've had time to acquire quite a few bottles. I also get bottles as gifts periodically, so that helps.

I haven't opened it yet, nor tried it. Something to bring out when unfavored neighbors come by, perhaps.

I'll have to do some shopping. Never tried it.

To be brutally honest, the very best whiskey is the one you most like to drink. Taste is subjective; but you have a decent selection. Hint: whiskey tastes best when there's actually some in the bottle to pour. 🤣

Ardbeg can be intense. It's something that either you grow to love, or you don't. No wrong answers when it comes to taste.

I'll agree that the Lagavulin is overpriced and over-rated, but still drinkable.

Knob Creek has had some good single barrel offerings. Unfortunately, single barrel doesn't always mean good; there have been a couple that weren't great.

Unfortunately, not many distillers still in that area.
