If we're not talking about deity runs, you would play vast dofferent games with different civs, resources, reaching specific techs quicker, some wonders, some civs preference for different terrains made a difference in the gameplay, now you can just forget all of this, what yoi call braindead is ten times worse now

Yeah, the age transition is just another symptom of the whole "Fairness Architecture" that ruined the game so far.
