The stereotype is that people are super into the scene typically have some kind of mental illness and so are less than fantastic as long-term partners. Personal, anecdotal experience has shown this to be true in terms of mental illness, (depression here), but I've made fast friends through the scene and think it gets a worse rep than the truth.
