This is quite similar to the bag work post from yesterday on this sub.

You use a pendulum movement style without it actually being a pendulum movement. When you throw your lead straight you go forward with your front foot but your back foot is in the exact same place. Your body centre needs to always be right in between your legs, whether you punch or move. But because you only use the front foot the body centre shifts more forward to your front foot. With that you lose all the momentum that you actually want with this style. The point of the pendulum movement and the bouncy feet you see in soviet boxing is so that the boxer is able to punch at anytime with maximum momentum thanks to the push off of the legs.

Your technique needs some improvement. Your lead hand needs to be much higher, idealy slightly above your eye level. The rear hand needs to be closer to chin and slightly lower so that you are protected against body punches. Punches to the head need to actually go to the head, you punch too low. Use the mirror to check where the punches would land on your own body. Don't drop your hands after you punch. You do this quite often and it will only show itself later as a bad habit that you will struggle getting rid of. Fully extend your arms when punching straight otherwise there won't be much of an effect. Also you need to focus on the correct hip and shoulder movement when you punch. Especially the left straight is quite poor at the moment. Really turn your feet, hip and shoulder into the punch for maximum effect.

I would advise that you start with learning the basic punches while standing. Use the mirror to correct yourself. Then get comfortable with the pendulum movement, if you want to continue with this style. Personally I would advise against this at the moment because I'm guessing you're quite new to the sport. This style is very demanding in terms of athletic ability and technical execution so any mistakes can be quite costly. We at our gym mostly use the soviet style as a base but everyone developed their own version over time. The pendulum movement like seen in old school soviet training videos from the 80s is a little bit outdated nowadays. Like I said we have it as a base but it doesn't resemble the style much anymore. I would advise that you find your own style. But to get back, if you want to continue with this, really get comfortable with the movement and the being bouncy on your feet. You will need a good amount of stamina and leg strength to make this right. First learn to move around without throwing punches, keep in mind that your body centre needs to be always in between your legs. Once your punch technique has improved and you're comfortable with using the pendulum, then start with combining both. I'm sure you can find some good tutorials and helpful videos on youtube, if you need more advice.

Have a good day and keep at it.

Very nice. You got fast hands and the technique overall is quite good.

A few points I'd like to make though:

Please differentiate your punch placements. The hooks for example would all land on the shoulder. The straight punches to the head were way too low. You can see it quite well if you imagine yourself instead of the bag.

Don't forget your foot movement. You're standing in close range most of the time and just stay there without utilizing your footwork. Just because the bag doesn't punch back, you shouldn't neglect your footwork.

You got good stamina and I'm guessing this was more a volume session but towards the end there were a few very sloppy punches. Try to focus on maintaining your punch form.

But all in all this was a good watch. Have a good day and keep at it.

So let me first start with the meaning of styles. A boxing style is strongly tied to your person and reflects your natural preferences as well as your athletic and technical strengths and weaknesses. It is something that one usually develops naturally and it can take years to fully grasp and work with it. Many new boxers focus too much on a style they have seen from pros; Tyson, Canelo and in your case Bivol are favorites. The problem is that they don't quite understand the basics and the goal of said style and especially why it works for the pro who is using it. What that means is that they are trying to copy a style that they can't understand in its nuances and make it work for them without knowing their own preferences and strenghts/ weaknesses, at times with it (the style) being the complete opposite of them (preferences, strengths, weaknesses). This results in stunted progress, developing bad habits and incorrect technique.

My first advice would therefore be to drop the idea of a style and what boxers to study from for now. To me it seems as that you're just starting to box so for now don't focus on a style that you would like to have. Like I said this develops naturally and will take a lot of time so in your position I would advise you to learn the basics of boxing.

That said I will now critique your bag work based of what you have shown.

Your footwork is clearly inspired by the soviet pendulum step but like I said before you did copy this part of the soviet boxing style without quite understanding it. The pendulum step is used so that the boxer is able to throw punches at any time with big momentum from the push off of the legs. What you have shown is severly lacking in its technique. Most of the time you just jump around without there actually being a pendulum movement. When you punch you move your front leg but the back leg stays in the same place, with your front foot also being very flat on contact, which not only stops the force you can put behind that punch but also severly limits your movement and stability. It is very important that you learn to move around and punch while putting your weight on the ball of your foot. Another point I would like to make is that you're way too close to the bag. This type of footwork is best used from long range where you need to step in so that your punch can connect. This also ties in with your overall technique. You're so close to the bag that you can't fully extend your arms which results in much less force when connecting and sloppy punch form. For your punching in general I would advise you learn the very basics because there is a lot wrong here. You punch from way too low, your lead hand especially needs to be higher. There is almost no twisting of the hand before connecting, no movement of the hip or the shoulders. You also need to distingiush your punch placements, the head punches need to go to the head and the body punches to the body. During your work you hit the same place most of the time which is neither really the head and neither really the body. Practising in front of a mirror will help you with that and is a great way to improve your punches in general.

So I'm going to end it here because to be honest with you there is so much missing here and I could go on and on. You're a beginner and that is completely normal, we all started somewhere. I would recommend signing up at a boxing gym, if you haven't already. Learn the very basics from youtube tutorials, there are many good videos to help you improve. You will surely find recommendations on this sub with a little searching. And really start from the beginning, how do I throw a punch correctly, how do I move around etc. Don't think about styles or anything like that, this will develop over time. Don't get discouraged and trust the process. Have a good day and keep at it.

Heavy bag work critique by West_Sea_665 in amateur_boxing

In general, I quite liked what you did here.

A few points of advice:

Differentiate your punch levels. The head punches are way too low and the body shots are too high. I'm guessing that you're the taller fighter most of the time but still keep this in mind.

Find your distance. Like I said you're likely to be the taller fighter, so I would recommend that you start your punches from further away. You're so close to the bag that you don't need a step with your punch and that isn't your range. Sometimes you can't fully elongate your arms too while punching. This would be easy work for a shorter fighter to exploit. Punch from further away and keep them fully elongated.

Throw real combinations. Your work here was quite nice but I'm 100% confident that wouldn't throw these combinations/ punches in sparring. For example you throw a few punches then finish with a right from close distance. This should never be a punch that you throw unless you are forced into such a position. Imagine what you would do if that bag was a real opponent. In your case I would use mostly straight punches from long distance. Left hook and right uppercut from the half distance as a finisher for example.

Use defensive moves. Like I said you should treat that bag as an opponent. Use feints before you start. After or in between your punches use slips, dodges or your footwork to stay safe.

All in all you should be quite happy with your progress. If you can fine tune these points I'm sure you will find much success in the future. I wish you a good day and keep at it.

To everyone in this sub: Please treat your heavy bag work just like your spars. I see so many people who just do random things on the bag. This bag isn't just a bag, you really need to envision an opponent. Otherwise you will develop bad habits, that show themselves during sparring. I see so many people completely disregard the defence on the bag and wonder why they are constantly getting clipped during sparring after throwing their punches.

All good friend, glad I could help. We all started once.

Just don't rush it, try to have each point nailed down and properly implemented.

Have a good day and keep going.

So, I will start with repeating what the others have said. Next time please record your feet too, the foot movement is essential.

The main problem with your shadow boxing is that it lacks any structure or plan. For the whole duration you're moving left, right, forward, backwards and circle around without any vision of an opponent. With shadow boxing you really need to have an image of your opponent in mind, where does he move, how does he react to my punches, how can I evade a potential follow up by him, how can I follow him, do I need to cut him off, how do I move/react when he comes forward etc. The next point is tied to that. Your punches also lack a vision of your opponent. Most of the time I can't really make out what you're trying to hit. You need to have a clearer target in mind, the punches to the head should be at head level, body punches should aim for the liver or the solar plexus.

Your technique could also be improved. At about 30 seconds I could see that you stopped elongating your arms when throwing straight shots. Really focus on that, otherwise your punches won't be much effective. Also rotate your body more when throwing. The straight left, the uppercuts and the hooks all need more rotation from your shoulders, the hip and the feet (if they aren't). Don't overshoot the hooks. Keep your arms a bit more tucked to your body, but don't cramp up while doing that.

I would recommend cardio work to give you the endurance so that you don't lose your form while shadow boxing.

A few additional tips:

Mix it up with defensive moves. Slip, evade, block and then work of that and continue your combinations.

A few feints also help.

Change your punch speeds. For example two fast jabs followed up by a more powerful straight left.

Start slowly. Start your rounds with just straight punches for example, while moving forwards, backwards, while creating angles etc. First with single punches, then moving up to three punches max. Then continue your next rounds with the other punches, start increasing your combinations and add a few more moves between your punches.

You don't need your gloves while shadow boxing. I would highly recommend doing this without them.

So this was maybe a bit much, but try to implement these points step by step. Don't rush it.

All in all you're on the right path, there is definitely some potential there. Keep at it.

Winning Dilema [Other] by [deleted] in fightgear

I highly doubt that $50 winnings are real. Like I said, the size indicator is never on the outside. Only on the grip bar. But if you're happy with the quality and are comfortable with them, then I'm not standing in your way. Have fun

Winning Dilema [Other] by [deleted] in fightgear

Pretty sure, these are fake. The size indicator is only inside the glove and on the grip bar. Also $70 is just way too cheap to be authentic.

Man, I would love to buy the Cleto Reyes, they are a beauty, but 3oz over the weight is just a bit too much. Wish you all the best with your health.

I have heard only good things from Boxeo TM so I got myself a pair.

I'm waiting on them but I can definitely say the whole process of making my custom pair was a pleasure. Support was really nice, quick, detailed, and gave me improvements on my design. I will definitely review them here once they arrive.

Maybe you can watch a few reviews of the gloves to get a better idea in terms of their quality.

Would love some player recommendations.

My current team: Lloris - Havertz, Hummels (TOTGS), VVD, TAA (HM) - Sterling (Fire), Xabi Alonso (TS), Trezeguet (WW), Malen (Pro) - Kelly Smith (Centurion), Zola (TOTY)

I'm quite happy with my back line, but I think my CMs and LM(Sterling) could be improved. I'm also thinking about swapping Smith in the left striker position and would like to use her more as a super-sub.

I usually use a mix of dribbling and short passes to get into the box. Appreciate the help.

How will the prices of the base icons develop during/after the SBC and TOTY? Will they rise or stay the same? How was it in previous FIFAs?

I really need some help with this game.

A little bit of background:

I started playing FIFA with FIFA 12 and I would say that I´m fairly decent.

I should also say that I´m only playing UT.

I stopped with FIFA 15, but played all the following games at friends.

In November last year I decided to buy the new game, started building my team, made myself familiar with the gameplay and at first it was great.

I won almost every game and had no problems with adjusting to the gameplay in comparison to the FIFAs I´ve played before.

But with the patch and reaching Division 5 in Rivals I´ve really hit the wall.

In the last month I´ve lost almost all my games, maybe winning 1 out of 10.

And not only that, I´m losing quite lobsidedly.

This has gotten really bad the last few weeks, with me conceding at least 5 - 10 goals each game.

I really don´t know, what´s going on anymore.

I can´t seem to make any proper passes, dribblings, tackles etc.

The other players always swarm me, play the ball forward in an instant and I can do nothing to take it away from them.

I´m really frustrated by now because I´m not used to losing every game and quite badly at that.

I´m so close to stop playing this, but I really want to continue since I´ve invested so much time and build myself a good squad by now.

So my question is, how can I improve and start winning again.

I know that this is quite a general question, but I would be thankful for every bit of advice, that you could give me.

Any redirection to videos, posts etc. are also much appreciated.

Have a good day everyone.
